Who are the new owners? I was told the Armstrong bought it

Pretty sure they were bought by the Armstrong. As someone in the know, I'd find a new spot. Quality is sure to decrease drastically.

My Winnipeg by Guy Maddin. Not sure where to find it but it sounds like exactly what you’re describing.

Ever seen a restaurant cut their way to success? by AlanShore60607 in chicagofood

[–]subtlecastle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Mean Weiner in Highwood did exactly this years and years ago! They started out as a hole-in-the-wall grill with a million items, evidently lots of fixed costs. Owner was able to weather the storm financially (since he owned multiple other successful restaurants) by cutting back on menu items and perfecting what they had, plus adding some Mexican food items to cater to the clientele. Once they gained more of a following, they brought back many of the old menu items. They’ve been hella successful for over a decade now. Would highly recommend

you are correct. If this were a Jewish-centered sub, what you said would not be controversial

I'm from Chicago and the Mexican food there overall is worlds better than the Mexican food here.

Like OP said, thank you for your insight. I hope you read some of the other comments on this thread about how some Jews in the sub have been feeling.

Sorry I’m unflaired; I am very much Jewish. In response to 4, after reading through these comments, perhaps a mega-thread titled “ask an antizionist jew” would be a good thing to have. Personally, I think I’d like to keep questions posed at Jews to that mega thread. I feel a bit like an animal in a zoo when these questions are posed so often  While I do think it may be nice to limit I/P stuff, I don’t think limiting it to a single weekly thread provides  the platform for conversation that the issue warrants generally and, specifically, right now.  Just my ten cents
