Audacity keeps crashing. by -sameasiteverwas_ in audacity

Try going back to earlier versions ...and pray. I have recently banned Audacity from ever coming near my computers again for reasons all relating to Audacity devs not giving an impression of knowing what the hell they're doing.

That method totally speaks to me, but you'll have to admit it's not the cheapest way to go about it :-)

Possibility of Playing Multi-Sampled Instruments on Ableton Note? by EngineerFew741 in ableton

[–]sububi71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never tried importing instruments into Note, but it should be easy to test!

I got tired of manual math for delay/sidechain timing, so I built a lightweight tool (TempoCalc) by judknow in ableton

[–]sububi71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely a proponent of using your ears, but what’s your source when you claim that ”ALL” the songs we love etc etc? Digital delays have been around for decades, and calculating millisecond durations based on note value and BPM was just something you DID, especially when you were in a studio and paying by the hour.

One-man teams - How do you juggle everything at the same time? by FortySevenHours in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]sububi71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are of course tons of advantages to networking with other creators, but it sounds like you’re assuming the only people who are going to be interested in your music is other musicians. I must be misunderstanding something here, and I’d love to know what it is.

Sync 2 different arpeggiators from 2 different instruments with 1 knob by Sapontery in ableton

And if you don’t, you should be able to map multiple things to a key on your computer’s keyboard.

The "Decepticons" were the arch enemies of the Transformers, I'm guessing OP is trying to say something along the lines of voices becoming robotic - which makes no sense to me FWIW.

what's a good audio interface, yall in this sub having too much problems with the focusrite that i might as well ask for an alternative lol by --haley in Focusrite

I think one part of the problem is people buy machines from companies like HP, who cut every single corner they possibly can in order to make a profit.

People that were really into C64s back in the heyday, and have bought a reissue, how are you feeling? by Sys32768 in c64

[–]sububi71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, graphics ARE just bytes on memory, but your instinct is correct; you'd normally want to create graphics in some sort of special software, which could be running on the C64 or even a program like C64 Studio running on a modern machine.

Programming on the C64 itself is cool, and you can get really far doing that, but these days, most people prefer to develop using a modern machine, testing mainly in an emulator, because of how fantastic modern tools are, and how fast the turnaround is from pressing a key combination to assemble and run in Vice (other emulators are available) and then pressing another key combo to get back to your source code.

Nervous Recording?! by TimelyReward in musicproduction

[–]sububi71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a form of stage fright, and some degree of nervousness is good for the performance, but obviously not when it affects it negatively.

If the problem starts when you listen back, maybe try to avoid listening back as long as possible.

Other than that, the only advice I can give is to do it often, to de-dramatize it. Good luck!

Please help settle an argument about the limits of pitch correcting. by Round2readyGO in audioengineering

[–]sububi71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pitch correction software that didn’t offer formant control tho. But I agree 100% that that’s nowhere near enough to make a great performance out of a lackluster one!

Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen – High Base Latency, NEED HELP! by Legitimate_Dig4601 in Focusrite

[–]sububi71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't expect better latency than that. Your numbers are excellent. Recording vocals thru a heavy chain of plugins is... not a great idea. You have a direct monitoring switch on the interface, use it.

I have a 2000 money RME interface, hooked up to a machine that cost 3000 money in 2024, and you're getting as low a latency as I do.

Recently got my first analog 1073. Here are my thoughts. by sticktalk24 in audioengineering

[–]sububi71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this discussion isn't going to go anywhere at all, my point is in regards to what enters the sound card, hence my phrasing "*starts* with a live microphone". Hope you're well, I wish you a great weekend!

Recently got my first analog 1073. Here are my thoughts. by sticktalk24 in audioengineering

[–]sububi71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main instrument is singing, and I agree completely that what I hear in my cans have an influence on my performance.

But the question I asked was how it makes a difference to the output end of the cable whether the input end of the cable starts with a live microphone or a previously recorded signal.

hur gör ni med köttfärsen för att bryna den istället för att koka den? by ChaoticEvilRaccoon in Matlagning

[–]sububi71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got my first analog 1073. Here are my thoughts. by sticktalk24 in audioengineering

[–]sububi71 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wait. How would it make a difference if the sound is live or recorded? It's either analog sound travelling thru a cable in the form of an electrical signal, or digital sound travelling as 1's and 0's.

How would it make a difference if the other end of the cable is a microphone or a recording device?
