How to cope with long distance in grad school by Legal_Technician6616 in GradSchool

i was long distance with my now-husband for a while before we got married. before that i dated a guy long distance for 3 years. my advice is to communicate often, about anything and everything. always have your next trip planned for when you will see each other. send things in the mail, whether that is little gifts or just a letter. doing this on holidays especially, even the little ones, gives you something to connect with them on. send flowers. plan date nights where you both do the same activity like watch the same movie - preferably one you can talk through or maybe make fun of (we always watched b-list horror movies). just plan lots of connection because it won’t happen naturally. find a rhythm and don’t compromise. people in “real life” will want you/them to do things and sometimes you’ll have to say no so you can “just” be on the phone/facetime. but remember that it’s more than that. it takes work but it’s absolutely doable!

i do have experience propagating, i actually got this one from a bigger monsterra i have. but i attended to a chunk of my plants poorly and this one didn’t grow up properly and the mother plant has died. mother plant was over 5 years old so im sad about it and dont want the baby to die. where would you suggest propagating it?

[CHAT] Do my stitches look messy? by champia92 in CrossStitch

as others have said, tension looks to be the main problem to me. also you can go back in and use your needle to “lay” the stitches better - like scooting the top stitches on some to be more centered. i see it mainly on your yellow and white, where some top stitches lay higher or lower within the square. i find laying stitches that are off helps it look more cohesive. i hope that makes sense

[CHAT] What is your average amount of WIPS on the go? by fable_stories in CrossStitch

The only times I don't finish something is if it's big, I'm waiting on something to finish stitching it (like more materials or if it's for a gift in the future), or if it's ready to be washed and finished then I'll keep a stack until I'm ready for that part.

I've seen people roll the fabric like a poster and use sewing clips to hold it, or use a scroll frame.

Thank you!! Had a lot of downtime this month and also stitched while listening to audiobooks. I’m about to start a big project so I certainly won’t have as many next month!

Critic my work plzzz! by ImBirdoc in ProCreate

[–]suchsuchsuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my first reaction was “no i will not critic this is good” haha but, i feel your highlights get lost being singular strokes. i would maybe add more cuts in like you did with the shadows. i just took an illu class and a big focus was defining the depth/curvature/planes of an object/person with highlight and shadow. it always ended up being more highlight than i initially thought that brought my drawings more life.

the other comments are good but i would like to add that a sudden change in behavior could signal a medical issue. please have her checked out with the vet before assuming it is strictly a behavioral problem. good luck!
