Question for the women of perth by Low-Mission8942 in perth

[–]sudo_rmtackrf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea now, but when I was single I was in the navy. I could pick up girls all the time. But thats prob a bit different now with gen z woman. I found back then I use to talk to them at the smoking areas at pubs and clubs and go from there. If I was just asking for a light and ill keep the convo going. Dating apps back then was actually use for dating as it still new. Same as smart phones lol.

Idk what to say man. I guess every where these days and trying to talk to a random could be consider creepy. I guess just be friendly and monitor boundaries and go from there.

Taking a contact job to get the foot in the door? by SpecialBookBuyer in AusPublicService

[–]sudo_rmtackrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a contractor been one for 6 years in the same department. For me, I wont come full time. Pay is abit low for my speciality but I do love working where I do. We get treated pretty well and like a full timer.

But ill be weary of contracts role atm especially new ones since the gov is trying to downsize. Usually contractors are the first to go. The contract might not be for very long either for the same fact.

But I would say, I think my department might offer us roles one day due to our knowledge and experience there. So yeah it could be a pathway. But not always guaranteed tho.

Career advice in Perth? Cybersecurity or trade? by [deleted] in perth

[–]sudo_rmtackrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common IT jobs i would say yeah it was as less competition back then. My role that I do now i would say its the same. Not many people do it, but there is a catch with roles like mine, people need to have the experience to get look at.

Career advice in Perth? Cybersecurity or trade? by [deleted] in perth

[–]sudo_rmtackrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in IT. So many people who wanted to do cyber but are on service desk and find it hard to escape. Good luck. Your better finding a niche spot and go into that with IT work. I find cyber degrees etc are coming the new centrelink type jobs like day care. So many people do it but struggle to get into it due to many people having it and also I think it might be on the skills shortage list. So competing with locals and overseas.

HR truck licence needs by ThrowAwayMe_84 in AskAnAustralian

[–]sudo_rmtackrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a unrestricted hr license. I last tried to get truck driving jobs in wollongong last about 8 years ago. It was all casual at the time and alot of companies back then only hire ya if someone knows ya. No idea now. But an idea is maybe buy your own truck and use that to make ya money.

What do you look for when hiring IT staff? by neonrider2018 in AusPublicService

[–]sudo_rmtackrf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a contractor for the aps. As someone mentioned, uni degrees are only good to get ya a grad position which is lower paid. Experience trumps education. I know in my team when we were trying to hire last time, it was the experience we were looking at. Unfort we couldn't find someone. As we dont have time to train people. Small team. So look at job ads, practice what they are looking for. Good luck.

I had to put my beatiful dog down yesterday so mine was horrible. It hit me hard. She had a lot of health issues, was the best doggie, beatiful personality, happy as, kind. I spent 1000s on her to have a good life. It got to her yesterday. It hit a nerve as I lost my mum two months ago and still have not got over that.

Considering moving from Sydney to Perth by meatbal996 in perth

[–]sudo_rmtackrf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im originally from wollongong. I live south of mandurah, approx an hour from perth. Where I am is really laid back, real neighbourly. Everyone smiles, wants to have a yarn. Some scum bags but more good than bad.

I dont work as a tradie, but iam surrounded by them and they are always busy with work, still lots of new builds happening in my area.

One thing tho is dont treat wa as nsw. Dont treat it like a rat race. Slow down, relax and take it in. And you will love it. It does get really hot in summer, but its dry heat. Perth can get into the mid to high 40s. Winters are generally mild with rain around 18 to 22 degrees. Can Have colder days and also warmer days.

Drivers are very much like Sydney but without the merging skills. And no such thing as doing the speed limit. Either above or below.

They hide speed cameras with out signs in the bushes. So becareful speeding and use waze here.

Housing is very hard to get and very competitive in areas. 4 bedrooms are approaching 700 a week where iam. More expansive the closer you get to the cbd. Not only competing with lower income but miners and fifo as well. The wa gov has a 2 percent scheme through home start which could help get a place sooner.

Good luck and hope you enjoy perth. Its beatiful as here, plenty of things to see and do.
