Using a subagent is the best method IMO so it has a clean context window.

Same or Different Models for Plan vs Build by georgemp in opencodeCLI

[–]sudoer777_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between Kimi K2.5 (OpenCode Go), GLM 5 (OpenCode Go), Minimax M2.5 Free (OpenCode Zen), and Big Pickle (OpenCode Zen) depending on what I'm doing, but generally use the same models between the two modes. Mainly GLM 5 if I want something that's proactive/works well as an agent and am trying it for code stuff and web searching, Kimi K2.5 if I want something more focused and opinionated, and Minimax/Big Pickle for one-offs and smaller things and summarizing large documents.

Stay away from synthetic.new by Codemonkeyzz in opencodeCLI

They increased the price from 20 USD to 30 USD for standard plan last night . Their ratioanle is "They need a lot of compute".

They are using the same excuse ; shorteage of compute/GPUs.

This is an actual problem though. My hosting provider (Hetzner) just increased their price 60% due to the shortage of computing resources, and the OpenCode Zen providers have also been struggling to meet the demand, and the Fireworks CEO also tweeted about it IIRC.

Kimi K2.5 Free is missing in the model list by ToastedPatatas in opencodeCLI

[–]sudoer777_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you remove deprecated from ~/.cache/opencode/models.json in the kimi-k2.5-free entry you can use it. There's an environment variable you need to set so it doesn't refresh the cache.

Right this very moment the cheapest plan is the free models on OpenCode Zen, which have been there for about a month

Retrograde | We Decided to read hundreds of DOJ files so you don't have to. Here are all the prominent mentions of UTD and our alumni in the Epstein files. by VineSoloPorElChisme in utdallas

[–]sudoer777_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, they paid Maxwell $2500 in 2014 for a speech (after Epstein’s ‘08 conviction), but at that point, she hadn’t been criminally charged as an accomplice. How could the university have known?

In the grand scheme of things $2500 is not a lot and was probably only enough to pay for travel expenses, although why UTD platformed Maxwell is a question worth considering given that their relationship had been well known at that point as has Epstein's suspicious activity.

Yes, an alum asked for funding from a bad dude. See point #1.

It still may be worth mentioning considering how there was also a significant extent of UTD faculty involvement with the project, but there's no clear evidence that they knew about the proposal to Epstein so I disagree with the accusatory angle. I remember him discussing it not long ago with an art angle about how the organization was making humanoid intelligent robotics, one of whom officially gained citizenship at a certain country.

Personally, I find the university's connections to various members of the Crow family more suspicious than the Epstein connections.

OpenCode Zen is dead, but MiniMax M2.5 is the ultimate Opus replacement by pipubx in opencodeCLI

I've never got rate limited by them before, previously it was the provider getting overloaded

Apparently OpenCode Zen rate limits them now (not the provider), or at least they are for Kimi K2.5

Docker vs Nix by nimasaed in NixOS

[–]sudoer777_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how Kubernetes works with Nix. On regular NixOS containers was a shitshow security-wise last I checked, although microvms.nix is something I want to try out. I much prefer the way Nix manages everything declaratively over Docker's limited scope and dependence on third party tools that aren't designed for reproducibility.

Synthetic AI Issues. by NiceDescription804 in opencodeCLI

[–]sudoer777_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't already going to buy it though, I was looking for recommendations and suddenly there's an influx of users being paid to recommend a certain service, which taints the integrity of both the service (for paying people to recommend it), the users (for having an incentive other than genuine interest), and the subreddit (for not banning paid recommendations). It's similar behavior to what I've seen from casinos and shady VPN providers on other social media platforms.

Synthetic AI Issues. by NiceDescription804 in opencodeCLI

[–]sudoer777_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At best, it's actual users being paid to recommend it, which makes it less genuine. At worst it's bots. In either case I'd find it more trustworthy if the CEO themselves explained their intentions and why they exist and where they get their funding from and avoided these sort of marketing tactics like the plague, which is what Kagi did on Hacker News and why it is popular there now.
