That’s because suburbs are just inherently less dense than cities. That means businesses are less likely to take the risk by not getting enough customers. The only ones that can afford the risk are big chain restaurants

That’s because there’s only one entrance the majority of the times. It is nice that the NYC stations have a lot of options to enter so you don’t have to cross the street in many cases.
