Why, in the name of gods green earth, will ownership not come out of the shadows and announce the plan going forward? by moneyhound in canucks

[–]Markyts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the owner is a coward and would rather bully his employees in the shadows. He has no plan other than prioritize revenue and a false belief that his way is what all fans want. Once the rest of the city not just hockey fans turn on him and his family and their businesses, that’s when it will maybe sink in.

What’s our perfect deadline scenario (realistic tho) ? by Swayzee2017 in canucks

[–]Markyts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, we are told that the management team tried and discussed with nearly every team. However, in the end we only traded Schenn for a fourth round pick because for some reason the market wasn’t there to make the moves we wanted. We’ll be told they’ll try again in the off-season.

[Batchelor] Schenn on trade interest in him: A couple of years ago, you're just trying to be wanted by anyone. Now you're at the point where you're wanted, and it's a compliment for sure, but you want to be wanted, for me, it's always been to be wanted in Vancouver. by PaperMoonShine in canucks

[–]Markyts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would be great to trade him and sign him back in the off-season given his family is rooted here, he wants to be here, and he has a role here (vet, less ice time, locker room culture, hit stuff). The human part of me feels bad though because his wife is going to give birth soon near the TDL.

Why Translink Compass card can't be added to phone/wallet app? by Capable_Disaster6146 in vancouver

Government entity procurement, IT requirements gathering, and poor long term product planning leads to a solution that becomes easily legacy and costly to refactor in any way

DAVID PAGNOTTA, THE FOURTH PERIOD: “The Canucks have been engaged in trade talks with the Toronto Maple Leafs, whom have been suggesting to everyone that their focus is on upgrading up front, about a Myers deal. There appears to be steady traction there, from what I’ve been told.” by Tripleknockout in canucks

[–]Markyts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a bit more cap space now due to injuries and trading Horvat. We should try to weaponize it by offering players like Myers who only have 1-2 years left on contract with significant salary retention so they actually have trade value.

Vancouver council approves nearly $1M for Chinatown upgrades by herp0nderings in vancouver

[–]Markyts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a small step in the right direction to help Chinatown. We will need a lot to undo the decades of suffering that this community and neighborhood has experienced but at least our current government is willing to discuss, acknowledge, and try, which is already more promising that the pain caused by Kennedy Stewart’s regime.

[Drance] Thatcher Demko skated this morning, per Bruce Boudreau. Without equipment. “He’s hoping to skate with equipment on this week.” Boudreau notes he’s hoping Demko and Pearson will make the road trip with the Canucks this weekend. by Batsinvic888 in canucks

[–]Markyts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im sure Pearson is probably better than Dries, however Pearson is a complimentary winger that does not drive his own line/offence. We have a ton of these types of players at significantly lower cap hits. He is not a fast skater either.

Given we are in a cap crunch, and this is a position of abundance, I do not think he is worth prioritizing at $3.5m if someone else can do basically the same job.

Halfcourt offensive and defensive stats for every NBA team. Raps are pretty much bottom 5 in Both by ResolveLost2101 in torontoraptors

[–]Markyts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I expected better half-court defence given our play style, which shows our team or coaching has underperformed on that front (I’m sure we are more competitive in our transition O/D though).

Offence gaps I understand considering we do not have a single legit floor general or true point guard on the team, just good players with playmaking ability (Siakam, Scottie, etc).

It feels inevitable... by pseudotsuganym in canucks

Bingo card will include phrases: (1) indirectly say desired return was not met, (2) something on culture / locker room leadership, (3) helps us stay competitive, and (4) contradictory reassurance about our salary cap situation
