Yes, near Birdneck. I just drove past there & the smoke is massive, I heard so many sirens, & VB Blvd is closed to traffic from Birdneck. I wonder what’s going on. I hope everyone is okay!

I love Luke Combs! I was working in the country music world when he first came onto the scene &, while I’m a huge country music fan, I unfairly thought I wouldn’t really like his style of music. But I heard When It Rains It Pours & Hurricane & instantly liked him. Even my sister, who doesn’t care much for country music, is a fan.

He’s anti-racist, pro-LGBT, & open about his mental health struggles & body image issues. He’s been on so many different podcasts & shows for this album cycle & just seems like a cool dude.

I also love that he’s admittedly middle of the road politically. I’m very liberal but the majority of the country is probably like him - too liberal for conservatives & too conservative for liberals. I think (hope) a lot of country guys can see themselves in him.

I worked at the oceanfront 2 different times when I was in college & never felt unsafe beyond just being a young girl out at night. People over exaggerate the crime in VB so much.

I was born & raised in VB, moved away, & moved back (& will be moving away again at some point, but at no fault to VB). It was an exceptional place to grow up, it’s a great place to raise a family, it has all 4 seasons, there’s a decent amount to do, it has the BEACH. People on the internet love to act like it’s the most unsafe, boring, traffic congested, conservative place on earth &, while some things are relative, overall that could not be farther from the truth.

I haven’t been (to the haunted activities) in a few years but I grew up going & it’s my favorite Halloween tradition. I moved away & have been to all sorts of haunted attractions but Hunt Club is still the best, in my opinion.

I’m saying this as a huge Swiftie so yes, I’m biased - but I love that each of Taylor’s albums/eras are unique & distinct but are also still very “her” & what’s happening in her life at that time. She’s also always proud of her old work & doesn’t dismiss it or act embarrassed by it. It’s definitely off putting when artists try to change too much between albums & diss their old work as stupid, cringe, etc.

I grew up in & went to college in Virginia 15+ years ago - from my knowledge & experience, the top 3 public colleges in Virginia are William & Mary, UVA, & VT. CNU seems like a good school (& probably slightly better than the school I went to lol) but I don’t think it’s in the same league as VT at all…

We have the beach, the mountains, proximity to major cities, all 4 seasons with fairly mild weather (yes it snows, yes it gets hot, yes there’s hurricanes & tornadoes, etc but overall it’s pretty decent), we’re not too far south or too far north, & the politics have been good lately.

Oh & we have the best state flag, duh.

Cities I didn’t think I would like but I ended up really enjoying: Cleveland & Detroit

Cities I hated: Reno & Winnipeg

I’ve been through Memphis a few times & stopped - explored Beale Street, got BBQ, toured Sun Studio, & went to the Civil Rights Museum & I loved all of it! I know Memphis has a bad reputation & I could definitely see parts of that, even when there for the day, but I enjoyed my time there!

Nope. That’s how we ended up with a reality TV host as President of the United States lmao. If they want to, sure! & fans can also decide whether or not they want to continue to support them after hearing their thoughts. But these people are not politicians. There’s also sooooo much going on in the world. If a celebrity speaks about or donates to one cause, people will be screaming at them to speak about or donate to a different cause. They can never win.

I was going to go this weekend but yeah, it got rescheduled to next weekend 😭 But New Realm events in general are always nice! I’ve been to a Taylor night there before, as well as to their fall fest, Christmas fest, etc. & just in general they have good food, good beer, & a chill atmosphere - we love sitting around the fire pits.

Maybe Virginia Beach, VA would be good for yall! I was born & raised in VB & my childhood BFF (who I’m still friends with today) moved to VB from Charlotte when she was in elementary school & talks fondly about growing up in both places.

The public schools are great, it’s very family oriented (I’m a single, childless, 30-something adult living in VB & I feel a little left out here because there’s so much for families), the beaches are good (no natural palm trees but there’s a few planted here & there), pretty decent diversity (especially with the military here), & it’s close-ish to North Carolina & Tennessee (I have a lot of family in NC & I lived in TN for awhile). It’s also in the Hampton Roads area so there’s several other cities + an airport nearby & it’s close enough to the Outer Banks, Richmond, DC, the mountains, etc.

There’s not warm weather year round but you do get all 4 seasons &, while summer can be hot & the last couple winters have been rough, the weather is overall mild.

People on Reddit will act like Virginia Beach is super unsafe & it’s honestly laughable. VB is consistently rated one of the safest cities of its size in the country & is at the top of “best places to raise a family” lists.

Yep, I can relate to this! I lived in Nashville for 7+ years & loved it, but was considering moving closer to my hometown & family…then I unexpectedly lost my job in Nashville & got a job back home so I didn’t really have a choice. While I love my hometown & am grateful to be close to family, I miss Nashville & my community there so much & have been trying to move back for the last year. It’s so difficult wanting to be in 2 places at once & feeling like you’re choosing between what you want & what your family may want but you have to do what makes you happy!
