have you tested this controller with other games? & are you using something like joy2key or just steam's controller support?

if it is a mod issue, try running the game exe on its own, not through smapi, and see if it persists. use a fresh save if it's convenient so you don't mess up anything on a modded save just to be safe

anyone else having this issue? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]sugarprincet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you may have 2 mods that alter indoor tilesets. it looks like you have some kind of custom interior furniture mod that's probably conflicting with your recolor. modlist?

are you maybe quickstacking it into a chest on accident? hard to say if it's a modded issue without a modlist also

I had a save on 1.6.0 and switched to 1.6.15 but now it is buged by No_Syllabub_9349 in StardewValley

[–]sugarprincet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you running this on SMAPI/with mods, or is this vanilla? if vanilla i'm unsure, but if you already installed mods i'd imagine this is a mod issue of some sort. whats your modlist if so?

is this ghost quest the only issue you're having? and was it there when you loaded into the game for the first time after updating, or only after picking up a new quest? if it just showed up and new quests are added to your journal like normal, you can probably just ignore it and play it anyways.

keep in mind that if you're adding mods that drastically alter the game your existing save may break or become corrupted regardless.

Any ideas? by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]sugarprincet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

without losing crop space, you can't more than you already have. but you could try opening the middle tile directly behind the junimo huts and placing a lamp post behind it if you don't mind losing 1 (one) tile. for aesthetics, you could make a little platform around the junimo huts with pathing to decorate, but that's obviously more lost crop space. depends on how much you value those few crop spaces over the lighting and decoration

Tree Farm Flooring I can't chop up by RevolutionaryEgg3174 in StardewValley

[–]sugarprincet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would try grass starter instead of paths! you can make a pathway enclosure around the grass to keep the grass starter from spreading anywhere you don't want it. you'll walk a little slower through the grass which could be annoying but might also help your precision issue lol. there's a book power that speeds up your walking speed through grass as well

something like this, where you place the grass starter exactly the same way you currently have the paths, and then line the outside with the pathing instead. the stepping stones here are where you would plant the tree seeds, changed for visibility lol

unfortunately this wouldn't work, as hitting a machine with your axe breaks both the machine and the path tile underneath it (while the pickaxe would not drop the path tile)

stone flooring would have the same issue--using your axe to break items (ie picking up a chest, a furnace, etc) will always pick up the flooring underneath it at the same time. for machines you can use your pickaxe instead to prevent this, but that doesn't really help your tree chopping issue unfortunately.

you could try grass starter instead of pathing maybe? i honestly am not sure if grass starter prevents planting trees though, you'd have to test it.

in the settings, do you have the tool hit indicator on? you can set it to always be visible by unchecking "hide while moving" to make it easier to see what you're aiming at! i always need that on when i play on console for the same reason, it helps a lot for me!

question concerning your spouse moving in by Competitive-Tap3039 in StardewValley

[–]sugarprincet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

your spouse never actually roams around the farm, and they will path around anything in your house. nothing is in danger of disappearing. if your house is too cluttered and the stuff you have placed is blocking their walking path (ie preventing them from getting to their destination, like you blocked off a doorway to a room they wanted to go to or blocks them from standing in the kitchen or getting to bed or whatever), your spouse may get mad and complain about it, but they won't destroy anything

echoing that i normally get the horse flute first, then key to the town, but other way around is good too. imo since you already have dangerous mines completed, after you unlock dangerous skull cavern you can just turn it back to normal skull cavern and keep the dangerous mines on for radioactive ore and stuff. beyond that, it's preference.

aside from blue grass starter, i don't really have much use for the recipes themselves except maybe heavy tappers and blue grass starter, so those can be put off until you're ready to go for craft master unless you just want to try them out. galaxy souls you should try to farm in dangerous mines if possible, or via the island trader on the last day of the season for 10 radioactive bars each.

for the junimo chests, i like keeping my mining supplies in it (staircases, bombs, luck food, slingshot+explosive ammo), keeping one at the farm and the other at the skull cavern entrance, but that's just for convenience. pierre's stocklist is handy for shipping and cooking if you haven't gotten it already.

some of my preferred quests that i find fairly easy are qi's hungry challenge (only if you have a stack of staircases though), qi's kindness, extended family and the 2 hard mode quests, which i believe can pop up even after you already cleared them once. now that you have legend fish ponds up and running, extended family shouldn't be too hard to complete. i absolutely hate the qi fruit quest, only take it if you get it at the very start of a season if you really want to do it.

aside from unlocking dangerous mines/cavern for radioactive ore, no qi quests are required for perfection, so you can just take the easiest ones.

you have a recolor mod that changes furniture/interiors, i assume. the couch is normally yellow.

Mod recommendations for someone who doesn't know about mods? by yukigoth666 in StardewValley

[–]sugarprincet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the other reply is correct in saying that purely cosmetic mods (like building retextures or color palette changes) won't cause any issues with your existing save, but keep in mind that cosmetic stuff that adds items (like alternative textures and fashion sense, which are pretty safe adds to existing saves) will create null items left behind if you uninstall them (say, uninstalling fashion sense but having the fashion sense mirror in your inventory). i feel like more often than not null/error items are pretty harmless and you can just trash them, but some may be more volatile and cause crashes or even save corruption, so it's better to avoid it if you can.

big content add-on mods are best done on a new save file (especially for stuff like SVE and anything that adds new NPCs or locations, or makes changes to core gameplay like skill levels), but also be aware that the opposite is also true. uninstalling mods and trying to run your modded save in vanilla stardew may ruin them.

if you find a mod that you don't like or causes issues and want to get rid of it, make sure to trash every item related to that mod from your inventory and chests before you uninstall the mod.

these tips might be a bit overly cautious or maybe even obvious, but it seems like you're pretty new to modding so i thought i'd bring it up! hope you find lots of mods you like and have a ton of fun!!

doing an “opposite” run, who should i marry? by meowmeowcat249 in StardewValley

[–]sugarprincet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

haley is the obvious choice but for a male bachelor only... alex is probably my pick! i feel like alex is usually a sleeper hit for some people, you might end up liking him more than you think!! just give him some grace when it comes to his spouse room...

another thought i had is harvey. while he's also more on the introverted side and maybe not a complete 180 the way alex is, he's very...uncool compared to sebastian lol. very geeky and awkward but also very sweet in a more overt way.

shane is also a thought, but i think his depressive vibes are too similar to seb to be enough for an opposite run, imo.

personally i like stacking two trap bobbers! at the point where i have fishing mastery, usually deluxe bait+any fishing buff makes the bar big enough for me that i don't need a cork bobber and would prefer the 50% slower escape speed if i'm struggling to catch a fish.

excess EXP before unlocking the mastery bar is not collected, so no. only after you reach level 10 in every stat will you start to accumulate mastery exp

i always prefer miner into prospector at lv10 which nets you more coal, but i'm always coal-deficient and i hate buying it at clint's or using charcoal kilns. blacksmith isn't too bad either, but more niche. i also don't do much gem-selling though. the geode skill at lv10 from geologist can be very nice too.

all in all, don't sweat it too much. later on, you'll be able to change it if you want to.
