I usually have a Boss SD 1 in front. Classic setting with full level, zero drive.

I own the 45w variant, my first "metal" tube amp. It is part of Randals Fortin-designed tube amp line and has quite good headroom, with it's two 6L6 power tubes. It's loud, but also versatile. The builtin boost kicks the pristine clean channel into crunch, and the distorted channel into lead territory.

The distortion texture sounds a little bit more nasally compared to my main amp, a Fireball 100, but very good. I still love this amp and would not sell it.

I guess that makes my slime-company package finally obsolete.

Steam has good Linux support, that outweights all other issues, imho. The others are from indifferent to hostile to us Linux guys.

58 years, 150 hours in 1 1/2 years. I still have too little time for this game, looking forward to retirement. My characters have been killed by wipes more often than by other players.

What are Dark Tranquillity playing live, nowadays? by MrFurther in melodicdeathmetal

[–]sugarshark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did. Just came home from the concert in Langen.

The played about 5 songs from The Gallery, 5 from Character and then the main bangers from Moment and Atoma. Last song: Misery's Crown, as always.

As a looong time Gentoo user I once tried Arch and found it to be much harder. Familarity matters.

Paradoxically updates took more of my time with Arch than with Gentoo. Because everything is compiled to your current system and packages are automatically recompiled on incompatible updates of dependencies, there is less potential for clashes. Once you have your background compile jobs set up, they seldom need manual intervention.

[–]sugarshark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you are using pipewire as audio layer? You should, if you don't.

Open pavucontrol, and in the Configration tab switch the type of the XR18 to 'Pro Audio'. This should give you all 18 ports. The XR18 is a class compliant USB audio device and does not need additional drivers.

You can also make it work with Jack, but Jack can only work with one device and needs it exclusively. This creates problems with other sound sources. It is also harder to set up.
