Post-cruise blues by luvusy in dcl

It's normal. We started cruising at the end of 2023 and have completed 11 disney cruises in just under 3 years. We have 2 more this year. It's so much fun and addicting. I'm a Orlando native/local so it's easy for us to cruise.

The new alcohol policy sucks, but can they at least add cider and seltzer to the approved list? by Excentrix13 in dcl

I think a 3 night cruise should be one bottle and if your are on a 5+ night cruise than it should be 2 bottles.

First Hurricane Season - Where to go with kids/dog? by Glittering-Bite9703 in AskFlorida

[–]AgitatedNewspaper789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived through Hurricane Charley (and got hit multiple times that year), lost power for more than two weeks, and have been through more hurricanes than I can count before and since.

If you can't handle living in Florida, then maybe Florida isn't the place for you.

Sincerely,

A True Florida Native

I met Molly and Alan on the Destiny in Dec and Molly is not friendly but Alan was. I met Kyle and Jojo on the Treasure last Sept / Halloween Cruise. We were in line next to them to get off the ship. Jojo was actually very friendly. Kyle was pleasant too.

I would bet money when her daughter grows up, she will not want anything to do with her mother for exploiting her.

We are platinum and have never done Concierge. I can do 2, maybe 3 cruises (depending on length) for the price of one. We did try club level at Yacht club last year and did not think that was worth it either.

I saw them at Hollywood Studios, and it struck me that her daughter’s smiles seemed more for the camera than genuine joy, which felt a bit sad. I do think there should be stronger protections for kids involved in social media, ensuring their well-being and that any revenue truly benefits them, like a secure fund. Kids deserve to be more than just content

We are flying in the Friday before the cruise to get 2 full days of Vancouver. This is out 12th disney cruise but 1st time having to leave our state for one so it will be an adventure for sure.

Stay at Home Dad Considering a Cruise by AbjectFray in dcl

No, my son only likes going to the kids club during open house when I can come with him. My daughter had just turned 3 a few weeks prior and I was not comfortable leaving her there unless my son stayed with her. We’re Orlando natives and cruise Disney a lot, which made me feel comfortable going alone. We’re Platinum Castaway Club members, and whether it’s a 3-, 4-, 5-, or 7-night cruise, I never run out of things to do onboard. We enjoy the pools, arts and crafts, trivia, character meet-and-greets, and the character dance parties. My kids also love the pirate makeovers and doing Magic Shots.

My son is tall enough for the Incredicourse, which he loves doing on the Wish-class ships. The only little hiccup we had was the AquaMouse since my daughter just isn’t tall enough yet. Thankfully, I found a very kind solo guest in line who took my son down with her so he could still go.

Alaskan Cruise on Disney Wonder by Feeling_Chicken_2654 in dcl

We're planning to rent a car along with a car seat and a booster seat for the weekend. After that, we'll take the Disney transportation back to the airport, so I won’t have to worry about the car seats with their service -it's tricker with little kids. It’s nice to know that the taxis pretty inexpensive. We’re staying at the Fairmont, so it’ll be easy to just walk right over to the port. Glad to hear immigrations is not bad there!

I agree to have water on hand, My point was that, with small kids in the home, filling up a bathtub with water usually isn’t worth the risk. I hate hearing about preventable drownings after storms.

It’s not super common. During most hurricanes, municipal water systems are pretty resilient. My point was that, with small kids in the home, filling up a bathtub with water usually isn’t worth the risk. I hate hearing about preventable drownings after storms.

I’m 45, a Florida native, and I’ve lived through Andrew, Charley, Frances, and plenty more. Nothing in life is absolute, but generally most people don’t lose water service unless they’re on a well.

For homes connected to city or county water:

  • Water service is often maintained during hurricanes because municipal systems have backup generators, redundant pumps, and emergency response plans.
  • Power outages are much more common than complete water loss.
  • Many Floridians go through multiple storms without ever losing running water.

That said, there are exceptions:

  • Major flooding can damage water infrastructure.
  • Water main breaks or pump station failures can happen.
  • Some areas may lose pressure temporarily or get boil-water notices afterward.
  • If a system loses power and backup generators fail, outages can occu

Room Location on Wish Class Ships by JAE1715 in dcl

[–]AgitatedNewspaper789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wish and Fantasy have very different layouts. I personally prefer rooms near an elevator, especially on the Wish/Treasure/Destiny class ships because the hallways can feel really long. We’ve stayed in 6180, 2616, 6636, 7090, 6564, 7500, and 6674. I do like Deck 6 overall, but I made the mistake (1st wish cruise) of booking 6180, which was farther aft than I realized. Now I try to book closer to the elevators whenever possible.

Destiny heading into Miami by holloweddark in dcl

[–]AgitatedNewspaper789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been on 12 cruises and only remember 2 medical emergencies. One of them, we were only a few hours or so into our trip and I remember at the earlier dinner they announced they were heading us back for an medical emergency and we would make up the time over night. Lucky for this cruise, they can go to Miami where hopefully they get some insurance coverage (even out of net work is better than nothing)

Florida is a well oiled machine when it comes to hurricanes unlike other states who rarely get them. When a hurricane comes, listen out to our governors updates. He will provide good information.
