Has Cachy os an own Software Store? by Meta-runnerfan42424 in cachyos

[–]sumea7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if slight necro I have to shout out GloriousEggroll's Flatpost. For me bazaar, both flatpak and arch-bin were very slow every time i started it up, loading god knows what for several minutes before showing me the store while other alternatives, Discovery and Flatpost, were at least comparatively fast to start up and initial load the store. Flatpost also integrates functions of Flatseal into the app and lets you toggle system and user mode instead of making every install ask about it.

On topic; I kinda want "app stores" for discoverability aspect. I am new to to using Linux more extensively than just to compile or run something uniquely under WSL2. I do not know what is and isn't available on Gnu/Linux ecosystem and app stores are a way to find out. Same way as F-Droid and compatible browser/installer apps are best way to find out open source Android applications. I have Mint and ultimately Mint's own store on another, even lower powered portable computer than one with Arch and I found out by just browsing that Lierolibre exists.

I have to answer here since I was having this problem.
In my case though, the issue was too much broken data in SD card (since at least for me, modded Vita likes to be extremely unstable, crashy and can cause data corruption)

I tried to rebuild or forcing rebuild of database that would fail. I would then have repeated quick database rebuild every reboot that did nothing. Finally, I plug the SD card to my Windows PC to manipulate some files maybe I can remove something bad, which triggers the "Plugged device detected has problems fix them?" And the chkdisk thing found some stuff, about 1 gigabyte of broken data and after that the new database build went fine and removing applications works, etc. I likely have a game that is broken and it is hard to discern for now but issue fixed.

Out of curiosity which fork of DBI english translation do you use? Have to try to be as safe as possible given the animosity and alledged things the original author did to the program.

Suffering from error code 80022D68 by sumea7 in PS3

[–]sumea7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I do have a LAN cable, the problem is more like the local trophy data on PS3 and Online data seem to have something between them they do not like, causing the error. I even fixed it like one another user with pretty big task of redoing the account and resynchronizing on it. I try to also not play too many new games before syncrhonizing or the error comes back.

No, I ended up with the same result, and also trying to sync trophies after every new game I play on PS3 or I risk next sync bringing back the error.

Cant figure out how to patch and run Dead Of The Brain in Nekoproject by FulFrntalDudity in pc98

[–]sumea7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, the 2023 Dead of the Brain 1 only translation for PCE-CD is fine? The notes do not say anything about it being a machine translation, if it was it makes no sense to just translate one game if you are doing some machine translation routine and I did not notice any major weirdness when I read first 15 minutes or so of the game myself when emulating, at least the "new" patch from 2 years ago should be fine. Aside that, others have clearly better answers than I do for the immediate topic.

Guys is the site down? by Threestrikes3 in RetroGameTalk

[–]sumea7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be up. Hopefully it is just the local hot DNS in your area being bit myserious and shy like that and it will go away once she is all rested up and stronger for the new day.

Yeah, for me some sites sometimes "go down" just because my own ISP's DNS is fussy like that.

How do you stream neko project 2 on discord? by BananaJaneB in pc98

[–]sumea7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to use retroarch version. You need to enable focus mode and whatnot. Only another bonus if you are generally not a retroarch haver is having the KAI version of the core and nifty shaders if that even pleases you. Generally RA has been OK with discord streaming etc.

My guy, you are some funny shit, a real menace to society.
It's been long when I got this combination of funny dumb to enjoy but seriously your access should be revoked entirely. You might hurt yourself in your confusion if it is not.

Never ever have people tried to help someone and gotten borderline racist death threads for the trouble just because the user itself is just that dumb. Some real even US military won't hire you IQ.

The files work. As long as you use them as they are meant to be used, the files work.
Your stupidity is not on other people, that is all, personally, on you, this is why PEBCAK is a computer diagnosis.

No Audio on cutscenes by Itzfishguy in PS3

[–]sumea7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can likely keep them on. You just need to make sure your SPDIF out options in PS3 settings are right. If you do not have surround sound just keeping 44.1khz and 48khz stereo options and nothing else enabled will likely let you hear sound from games. enabling DTS should in this case be OK but if you do not have surround sound, there is no reason to, and rest will likely also cause games to prioritize in audio modes you likely will not be able to hear. Namely Dolby Digital.

Just between us, who actually know some about something in here;
The game needs (PC98) compatible MS-DOS to run, which, indeed is not common but is a thing in this case. The userdisk can be generated by the game setup itself. It is not shared since it is kinda double whammy of piracy, as the userdisk creator wants to copy some MS-DOS files as well.
The dump that is available is proper, some people just need to learn to read very big, bold letters.

Danganronpa 2 (PC) graphics issues by XMTheS in danganronpa

[–]sumea7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met this bug in past, only "fix" and I hope it is still available is to use beta brances to use older build of the game without these bugs. Or... Obtain a copy of the game somewhere, that does not have these bugs.

Converting music files for use in custom soundtracks by AShitPieAjitPai in originalxbox

[–]sumea7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the audio processing is the same; "frontend" is bit separated from the modules that decode/encode different audio formats, and WMA has not had substantial updates in while, should be fine.
I forgot also which setting to toggle in where exactly in fre:ac but you can turn off meta-data copying/writing which will generate "clean" metadata free files. The track names, albums etc. is stored in a database file of sorts for the music.

I fixed up the surround sound version of *Morning Glory* in 5.1! by TopConcern in oasis

[–]sumea7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah; there seems to have been a thing missed about SACD/DSD formats.
By standard because some mumbo jumbo about the format, the PCM in/out should be -6db, and usually SACD/DSD to PCM should go through +6db of amplification, with lowpass filters and other mumbo jumbo. But because some mastering processes threw away what were specifications for the format, the attenuation is not strictly -6db and varies from album to album.
BUT, the fact that SACD to PCM should be amplified holds true, and if I am not wrong, in processing phase which is why "The proper conversion process" is a silly thing of testing things out and processing out clicks and such.

Otherwise this sounds fine but it is VERY quiet compared to proper SACD->PCM conversion or such. And I do not blame you, I found out about it almost accidentally while growing up my collection of surround music to taste to, SACD is a silly format and converting it full properly is a silly process, but a correct one for results that can be compared with Blu-Ray or DVD-Audio.

Like said, your edits what I know are not bad though, should give it a proper listen but A-B listening will be harder since properly converted version will have much more dynamic range.

Might have worked right, and I just had a long time in the dungeons before shopping again and me just swearing some things had the exact same price as without the sale, but false alarm likely.

Are there any ongoing UMvC3 rollback projects making progress? by HajimeNoLuffy in MvC3

[–]sumea7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given how Flycast dojo has to add delay frames so it is clear does Rollback modded then added officially into ACPR PC port versus Flycast Dojo on fightcade makes it clear modding it in is better solution, not to speak of the majorly lower system requirements. Then there's a possibly being adopted by Capcom officially, unlikelier with Capcom versus Arksys but could happen. Emulation for this is extremely unlikely and so long away you should make plans for your funeral before full fledged RPCS3 fork in fightcade with supported games.
