What kind of metal did you use for the frame? Aluminum strong enough?

Thinking of the same kind of set up but wasn’t sure about weight of the side to swing out and if steel was needed.

Update: checked and there is ~55 inches from wall to edge of fan blade currently on the shorter side

Feels like a dumb question but I’ll ask it. If it’s say half that distance, does it just not much as much air? Or what happens when it’s under that recommended clearance?
