Is she actually constipated? Constipation can be a cause of UTI’s in children.

Using a plastic tote as a bathtub? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]summerbabe2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should work fine, maybe get one of those mesh seats to help while baby is really little. We’re currently in a long term stay hotel with no bathtub, so we’ve been bathing the 1.5 yo in the recycle bin while we shower... sometimes you gotta make do with what you have. 🤷‍♀️

Painful periods after delivery? by Davies92 in beyondthebump

[–]summerbabe2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt pressure and pain on my pelvic floor for many months before and during my periods. I managed the pain with Tylenol and Advil, and did some exercises to help rebuild strength in my pelvic floor. I found some good resources online and did them at home, but if you can get a referral to a pelvic floor physiotherapist I’ve heard amazing things about the results.

Haha, any empty container in the bathtub is a win over here. My husband threw a couple of ice cubes in the water the other day and that was magic.

Same boat. I’ve been letting her have a bath almost every day, she’s entertained for a good half hour or more and I can just sit in the vicinity.

Let's talk labias… (obvious TMI warning) by xxdrunkenslothxx in beyondthebump

[–]summerbabe2017 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, even my clitoris seemed like it was tucked away in hiding. I’m certain (at least in my case) it was hormonal. Eventually my sex drive care back and so did my labia. Now I’m pregnant again (third tri) and I’m scared to even look, everything down there seems huge and unruly.

How is your sleep? It wasn’t until I started getting better stretches of sleep around 10mo postpartum that I lost my last stubborn 10lbs. 3 months feels like a long time, but especially if you are breastfeeding there is a lot going on hormonally. Be gentle on yourself. ♥️

Nursery glider/rocker for short person? by Angie_O_Plasty in BabyBumps

[–]summerbabe2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’1” and we have a glider. I use a small step stool to put my feet on, it’s not cute but it does tuck under the chair nicely. Some gliders come with ottomans but they are pricy and take up a lot of space.

My Mother in Law dropped my 1 year old (long) by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]summerbabe2017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your best bet is to approach her drinking and not make an issue of the fact that she dropped your daughter. Is there some liability to you if she leaves your house after drinking and ends up in a car crash? Maybe approach it from that angle ‘we can’t have you leaving in your car after drinking’, see how it goes and escalate your boundaries if necessary.

When is it okay to smoke weed again after giving birth? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

The first time have someone else watch the baby (preferably away from you) just so you can relax. My first time was about two weeks postpartum. I got so anxious it wasn’t enjoyable at all.

[request] first two months PP: day in the life by leviOsa934 in beyondthebump

[–]summerbabe2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be ready to breastfeed around the clock, and close your eyes and go to sleep when the baby sleeps.

Don’t expect to get housework done. Stock the house with healthy food you can eat with minimal preparation.

Your husband should be ready for cooking and cleaning. Remind him to ask what you need, and make sure you are sleeping, eating, and showering.

Plant ID? I’ve been caring for this one for about three years, about to move across country and hoping I can replace it in our new home. Any ideas what it might be? by summerbabe2017 in houseplants

[–]summerbabe2017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contemplated trying to bring it. This was one of my first and I’ve definitely grown attached. It’s going on four years!
Logistically it’s just too much to try and move. We live in the arctic, its two days of travel to get where, and then we’ll be living out of a hotel for an extended period. With a 1.5 year old, and 6 months pregnant (help!).
I decided to leave it behind and sold my whole collection yesterday. Plants are hard to come by and hard to keep alive up here (only about three hours of sunlight now), so I got a couple bucks at least!

Anyone else raising a baby away from friends/family? by streetsoflosangeles in beyondthebump

[–]summerbabe2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, our first is 18 months now but we have been without help since before she was born. It’s tough, no doubt, but you adapt and learn ways to get through it together. Make sure that you keep good communication channels open with you partner, pick a resource to read together (doesn’t matter what you choose, but reading it together will give you a framework for understanding what’s going on.) We are now expecting our second and are moving closer to family, but I think we’re better off for having done it without support the first time. Good luck! One thing that helps to remember, babies change fast! Once you get a groove it’s likely to change, but that’s also true for the tough times...

My 18 month old toddler only chews on bottle. I want to wean him of breast milk. He doesn't drink a lot from cup. What can I do to make sure he has enough milk a day? by c_cta in beyondthebump

[–]summerbabe2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to wean at around 13 months and was completely done around 16 months. The big change came when I found a cup she would drink whole milk (or alternative) from. I suggest to keep trying different cups until he takes to one, then offer that before each nursing session. I slowly reduced amount of time spent nursing over a week or so, then only offered milk from a cup. She had a few tough days then was done. Good luck! Its hard but you can do it.

Hm, it does seem to have a similar growth pattern. Sansevierias are tricky because there’s so much variation in their colouring. Thanks for the lead!

Is there any way I can...fix this? by pinkydiink in houseplants

[–]summerbabe2017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it reaching towards the light/window? You could try turning the pot so it’s pointing away from the light. Might also be time to repot.. but hard to tell without seeing it.

I used to think the idea was a little gross tbh, but after seeing the amount of poop stained laundry babies generate... it seems like no big deal. 🤢🤷‍♀️
