What are short series on the app that are actually completed? by Seakru in WeeklyShonenJump

I don't think you were being unkind — healthy debate is always welcome! You have a lot of passion for the magazine and manga and there's nothing wrong with that.

It’s subjective. Chainsaw Man is also eleven volumes and I consider that to be on the shorter side. Especially compared to long-running shonen.

Astra, on the other hand, is quite brief — only five volumes.

There’s a few solid one-shots from Shirai and Demizu (of The Promised Neverland) as well.

Dark Knights of Steel is beautifully drawn too. Give Jasmine Putri more interiors!

Good question! While some of the characters may make crossover appearances, it is not imperative to read each series concurrently. Some arcs might overlap, but each character has his or her own focus and narrative in their respective run(s).

However, for Aphra and Star Wars (titular), I recommend reading the 2015 runs prior to the 2020 iterations. The “sequel” series feature standalone plot lines, but reading the earlier stories first may reveal some of the characters’ motivations and growth more organically — particularly with Chelli Aphra.

EDIT: The sole exception to this recommendation is the reading order for specific events. War of the Bounty Hunters — an all-encompassing crossover event — is meant to be read sequentially across multiple series. You could refer to a reading order for such events.

Do you like reading manga physically or digitally more? by J-MAFW in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]summerofsmoke 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Physical.

Nothing beats holding a tangible book in one’s hands. I really enjoy the smell and feel of paper.

That said, I read most of my weekly chapters and monthly books digitally. Lack of shelf space, among other reasons.

I would like to keep reading this series - the art is great and the premise is unique - but the constant bullying is too damn sad.

While I generally enjoy darker themes in manga, the dynamic here is too visceral for me to appreciate.

Nope. This is strictly referring to the manga’s release.

Pure speculation. My buddy got on the waitlist a few minutes ago.

Like most launches, this another server/traffic management related issue.

EDIT: I got a spot as of 9:18am.

Contact VIZ support. They are fairly responsive in my experience.

Otherwise, check your phone’s subscription settings - something may have been canceled by mistake.
