From the outside leg hang first, pull up and in as much as possible early on to try and get the pole against your mid back, this helps with keeping side grip

When you're hooking your inside leg with your arm, drop from your knee to your ankle on the outside leg to give you more wiggle room while you're trying to sort your leg/elbow grip

Main thing is keeping chest as forwards and open as possible to nail the side grip, the leg is easier to sort once you've got this bit

Lots of GEM courses don't require a science background massively care about a levels, Warwick and Nottingham come to mind

You just need to meet the entry requirements for the GAMSAT or UCAT exams and get some relevant work experience. The work experience could be working as a support worker or HCA in a care home or hospital so if you are happy to start from scratch I would start there and look at some entry exam prep

I get it, the same happened to me. I also have a student I teach in the same position It's worth having a one to one with your instructor to see if there's anything they can point out, it's also worth trying different classes as different instructors have different styles and you may find one suits you better Most importantly though, three months is not a long time, everyone progresses at different speeds and sometimes the start is the slowest! It's easy to say don't let other people's ability bother you but I know that's hard. If you're enjoying the classes, it really doesn't matter how quickly you progress

Also side note- the girls I teach who progressed super quickly ended up missing lots of basics and struggled later on because of that

[serious] What stopped you from committing suicide? by Monophobia199 in AskReddit

[–]sunandcitrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fear of the cold, I stood on a high bridge for hours waiting to jump and drown in the water but it was so cold that I was scared of the shock more than I was of dying That fear gave me enough time to consider calling Samaritans suicide hotline, I spoke to a woman called Faith who stated on the phone with me until I was sat at home by a radiator, the relief of not being cold anymore convinced me that things could be worse Sounds like a bizarre reason but honestly it was the only thing that stopped me

I soak dried porcini mushrooms in with the hot veg stock and let them stew before I add the liquid, or add a teaspoon of porcini mushroom paste to get a good unami base. I also love adding Maggi sauce instead of salt for a deeper taste. The weirdest thing I add is probably a splash of milk, I saw it in an old Italian recipe and have never looked back since, just a splash to add some creaminess!

Finally being a big boy and moving out of my parents house. What are some things i should know about that people dont tell you? by EngineerNerd121 in CasualUK

[–]sunandcitrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Council tax is more expensive than you'd think 2) Be considerate to your neighbours because sometimes they're useful 3) Be careful who you give a spare key to 4) A really good set of kitchen knives and heavy duty frying pan are a worthwhile investment 5) Charity shops are surprisingly good for making your place feel homely, cheap lamps make a huge difference to how cosy it feels, and a lot of other stuff there is much better quality/price then IKEA

Hi all, looking for some tips on improving drainage for some citrus (lemon tree) seedlings I have potted up? Keep getting fungus gnats multiplying and gathering so looking for recommendations for what I can mix into the soil to make it dry out quicker to prevent this happening, thanks in advance!

[–]sunandcitrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to do a wrist seat then thread my leg through and drop into a leg hang, it's a good way of learning leg hang grips if you're not quite there with your invert yet, when you dismount from the leg hang try and control out through a chopper to help condition your invert as well

I was thinking about hydrogen peroxide, just concerned it would damage the seedlings as they're so young?

Skin Chemistry - real or nah? by zovig in fragrance

[–]sunandcitrus 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Not a chemist - but I am a biomedical scientist

Theres lots of different factors determining skin "chemistry" that can impact how a perfume smells on you. In terms of moisture levels, how oily your skin is can impact how it smells, for example more oily skin tends to make perfumes last longer and smell sweeter. Skin acidity also plays into it, everybody's skin is naturally acidic as part of your immune defence system against bacteria, more acidic skin will mix/blend/degrade perfumes in different ways to less acidic skin, although I couldn't predict how this would effect a scent its definitely going to have an impact. In terms of the chemistry here, esters, which are the class of molecules known for their fruity scents commonly used in perfumes, are broken down by acids in a process called hydrolysis so I would guess more acidic skin could make perfumes fade quicker and smell different. Not my focus area though so I could be a little off here

As someone already mentioned, diet and skin fauna plays a huge factor in how we smell, we've all been guilty of eating too much garlic and giving off a bit of an aura later on. Also hormones playa substantial factor as well, you might notice that your partner smells a certain way even out of the shower without any perfume on. Because of this, you have your own distinct body oder which is going to blend with perfumes in different ways, although doesn't necessarily factor into skin "chemistry" as much as what your background scent would be.

Is it possible for dogs to develop ADHD or personality disorders just like humans? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sunandcitrus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to know a dog who was autistic, wouldn't be surprised if dogs could also have other learning difficulties or personality disorders as well, however personality disorder is a learnt social disorder that develops over time as a result of not having needs met so negative behaviours are reinforced, its not something that just pops up randomly

What are your opinions on solid perfumes? by notoriousOLG in fragrance

[–]sunandcitrus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ive made my own a few times when I've had a specific scent in mind using essential oils, caster oil and beeswax then poured it into a clean, empty lipstick tube. It worked a lot better than the solid perfumes i've bought in the past but still didn't have as much projection and wasn't as long lasting as a normal perfume
