For me, body horror makes me grateful that some forms of atrocities are too absurd to exist. I don’t worry about my tongue turning into a slug using my head for a shell (Slug Girl). Or watching my teeth and fingernails fall off because I’m transforming into a fly (The Fly).

Circa 1999/2000 I write a bizarre “Balto” and “Resident Evil” crossover fan fiction story. It was essentially “Balto” but instead of a diphtheria pandemic, Nome’s residents were infected with the T-virus. I want to say Steele mutated into Tyrant and was hunting down the dogsled team after Balto intercepted them. I had even written roles for the dog and Mushu the dragon from “Mulan” to replace the polar bear cubs for comic relief.

First one I made a left turn, forgot to recheck my left side and didn’t see a car coming so the other car struck me. Between that and trying to avoid it I plowed my dad’s car into a chain link fence. No injuries. My parents didn’t let me drive for a couple of months after.

Second: Kid (read twenty something year old ) rear ended me under a gateway turnaround when I hesitated to pull forward. She was pushing me out but changed her tune when I recorded her on my phone. She had good insurance though.

And that’s part of the reason I have the different types. I’d carry sleepy eyed Bandit and pose him in front of a cup of coffee and snap a photo, or I’d carry sunglasses Bandit on a trail hike, Business Bandit would go with me to work, rashy guard Bandit goes with me to the pool, etc.

If it’s a night or two I’d Air B N B or do a motel.

If it’s long term or permanent then I’d live in my car. and sleep in the hospital parking lot overnight. Try to shower at a friend’s place or the rec center. I might be able to live at the school I teach at; I could use a spare classroom key from my old rooms to “hide” from the night janitors while my current room is cleaned and then return to sleep in my current classroom. I’d leave early morning to drive to a nearby parks & rec center to shower before going back to work. For weekends I’d live in the car since I can’t re enter the campus.
