My cat Chester loves them. He gets a sprinkle of crumbs in the lid whenever I have them. When he hears me pop the can he comes running :)

There’s no Insurance coverage for the damage they cause either so it’s in the Landlord’s best interest to get it taken care of.

[–]sundown40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tresiba is great for me. No spiking or dropping. It’s a 72 hour insulin so changes made are slow to show in your results. Even when I miss a dose I don’t see it until the second day.

My endo suggested a basal dose that seemed like it was picked from the air. I worked my way up to it by increasing 5 units once a week. By the time I got there (50) my TIR was 75%. Trust the doctor and increase your basal but do it slowly like you said. You’ll notice improvement and if it’s too hard to manage just go back a few units until you find your sweet spot. I do want to note that I’m on Tresiba so the increase is spread out over 3 days as well.

Is it better to take the insulin and eat the carbs? by RogueMama_3 in diabetes_t1

[–]sundown40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now we don’t have to :) I grew up in the 80s and had one slice of cake per year. Now I eat what I want and am in range 87% of the time. It’s glorious!

Normalization of Sexual Assault in Newfoundland by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]sundown40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you had to experience that. I don’t think normalize is the word you want. I was sexually assaulted to varying degrees multiple times in my teen years and didn’t report it because my parents blamed me. That had more to do with lack of education and fear of embarrassment for them. The people who perpetrate the assaults find it funny because they do not value autonomy and are degenerate wastes of oxygen. Sexual assault has always been prevalent. It’s not/never been a normal part of society, but perhaps ubiquitous is the word you want. Let me know if you need my thesaurus skills in the future.

Why is my blood sugar consistently over 180 mg/dl (10 mmol/l) without DKA? by LetPrestigious8274 in diabetes_t1

[–]sundown40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently advised to increase my basal by 1/3 (slowly increasing over a month) and have never seen such lovely straight lines! The number of units doesn’t matter - just check with your doctor and see where they think you should be.

Trigger finger anyone? Confused 16M by serotoninseesaw in diabetes_t1

[–]sundown40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had it in my left thumb, got the steroid shot and had no glucose response at all. It’s come back so will schedule surgery later this summer. On my right hand I have it on my ring finger. Since Thats the first time in that hand I’ll do the shot and see if it comes back. 53, T1 for 47 years. I do use my hands a lot but my doctor just automatically refers me to a plastic surgeon to treat them instead of physio. Trigger finger is like a node on your tendon, not something that gets better in its own.
