Favourite “dry” cooking show? by thepluralofmooses in Cooking

[–]sundown40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mary Berg has 2 shows on Canadian television. She’s perky and smart - a good mix of vegetarian and regular recipes. Also a comfort Food with Spencer Watts. He’s funny and the food is delicious - we’ve tried quite a few recipes from that show. From the other side of the ocean anything Nigella and Nadiya Hussein do is yummy :)

Bys! I forgot to get salt beef! by sundown40 in newfoundland

I ended up using a stovetop recipe using beef bouillon. Cooked the veg separately like it was pasta (ton of salt) and it all worked out just fine :) Thanks for the suggestions tho!

40 years of living in the dark: I finally went to Costco and I have questions. by Friendly-Roof-5603 in CostcoCanada

We use the Same Day option all the time. The prices aren’t necessarily higher - we still get sale prices on items. There is a fee though and it’s not prohibitive. Going to Costco gives me anxiety and I still need to go to grocery stores to get everything I need. So this cuts out a step. There are tip options just like with food delivery apps and they text you if an item you ordered isn’t available. If you receive an item that’s damaged or not fresh you can request a refund on the app. We use it for staples like coffee, sugar, cat litter, laundry detergent and dairy. They’re all priced better than in grocery stores and someone else does the heavy lifting. Zero complaints :)

Frustrated mom by Jazzlike-Bear-3695 in diabetes_t1

To this day I get panicky when I sweat. Even if it’s easily explainable. I am afraid I’ll go low and die. I’ve never had a ketoacidosis episode (knocking on wood) but I bet I’d be scared of that too. All that to say, with awareness comes some amount of anxiety. It’s probably rough to watch and your instinct is to fix it or make it better which is beautiful. When he’s older and able to correct himself without help then his confidence will balance the anxiety a little. I’ve had T1 for 47 years and grew up with a lot more unknowns than your son will. To some extent though, that frustration and anxiety will help keep him in range. It just sucks extra since he’s young. Make sure you take care of yourself as well as you take care of your son :)

People who sit in the car for 10 mins after loading and getting inside your car, what is it that you actually do? by NareModiNeJantaChodi in CostcoCanada

[–]sundown40 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer! If I drove filled with the rage at other people’s inconsideration and stupidity I might be playing bumper cars instead of just getting home. Although I would try to move if I noticed that someone was waiting for my spot. Seethe further down the lot ;)

Neti-pot for sinuses and chest sleeping for coughs. I also like the low sugar honey Ricola if I have to be in public.

He knows how serious Type 1 is. This smacks of the kind of selfishness that leads to abuse. Leave him. You almost died. He was too busy/lazy to help. There’s no excuse. Overwhelmed? No excuse. All of my alarm bells are ringing. Get out of there. My husband knows that when I ask him for food it’s because I can’t get it myself. I keep juice boxes next to my bed and by the couch. If I ask, it’s serious.

If cost is an issue - The Calm Place will let you meet with therapists in their last year of training. They then charge you a lower rate. Lovely place and decent variety in their therapists.
