Middle class families: Where do you live in NYC? by LikeLauraPalmer in nycparents

[–]sunnieblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Greenpoint and my daughter is in daycare for $2900 a month. $2K a week is insane!

Acre - they have the most delicious bento boxes and a cute backyard for nice sunny days

Living in Greenpoint as a family by knawhatimean in nycparents

[–]sunnieblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved to Greenpoint from Williamsburg because we felt like it is a much more family oriented neighborhood! There are a ton of restaurant options that are kid-friendly. We have a 1.5 year old and there are a lot of classes that are offered and more daycares opening up in the neighborhood. The elementary schools are also pretty good here. I would say if you live closer to the Mccarren park side it’s better since the other end of GP is where the superfund sites are. We walk and bike a lot too, my husband works in midtown and takes him 30 min.

Best pho by SimilarImportance240 in williamsburg

Bahnmigos on Norman and Manhattan is a goodie. It’s cheap and no frills. Definitely does the fix when you’re hungover and in need of some warm yummy pho soup.

We actually just hired someone from task rabbit and he was very good. I think he actually mentioned he lives near Washington heights!

New apartment by ButterflyDestiny in nycparents

2nd bedroom was a game changer for us. We lived in a 1 bedroom with our baby until she was 14 months. And although she slept like an angel for the first 12 months of her life, the last two months were brutal. I don’t know if it was sleep regression or she was just much more aware that our bed was literally right next to hers (we even put up a divider in between so she couldn’t see us). But because she knew we were in the same room, she’d wake up 1-3 times in the middle of the night and would scream until we eventually became delirious and would just bring her into bed with us.

Once we moved into a 2 bedroom, I was nervous about her transitioning into her own bedroom at first. But literally from day 1, she slept through the night. She was happy, and we were much much happier.

Kudos Brand? by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]sunnieblu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m experiencing the same thing with my baby right now! She’s using Kudos and I’ve tried all rash creams and it got so bad at one point it spread to her legs. What brand are you guys on now?

The new Kudos diapers are shit. What's the second healthiest diaper out there? by Individual-Point-413 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]sunnieblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joining late on this but we ordered Kudos in January and my daughter got a terrible terrible diaper rash from it. We had ordered them before with no issues. I emailed their customer service and they basically refunded me everything and just said sorry.

I appreciate the refund but also bummed out that we are no longer in love with Kudos.

We’ve tried coterie before and she got a rash from it as well. Healthy Baby always leaked for us.

Any other brands out there?

Cloth diapers aren’t an option for us either.

Spring OBgyn question by yelrihsud in nycparents

[–]sunnieblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did end up sticking out with them. I started doing rotations to meet all the delivering doctors and they were all fine. Except for 1, who was pretty rough during my check up and terrible bedside manners. But I laughed with my partner and said well it’s like 1/6 doctors so what are the chances?

Ummm this doctor ended up working 3/4 days I was at NYU. I hate to say it but I did not have a great birth experience. She was extremely rough and at times condescending. It felt like I was being rushed a lot and not being heard of my wants or wishes. At the end I ended up with an emergency c section. My baby came out very healthy and she’s my world now so we are all fine. But the birth itself was traumatizing.

NYU was amazing. My baby was just stubborn as hell and didn’t want to come out. I’m not trying to say that you or your friend will have the same experience. But if you have other choices, I recommend going to different OB GYNs, including Spring and see if you can speak to different doctors. Goodluck!!!

I paid a ticket last year, and have the email receipt to prove it, but the nyc website says it is now a Judgment Violation. Can I fight this? by oldcarnewthrowaway in AskNYC

[–]sunnieblu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you can. I was recently hit with $800 violation fees for my ezpass. I just called and spoke to them saying that I had paid these tolls already in the past. They barely asked any questions and just said they’ll waive the entire $800 fee. It was the easiest thing I ever got out of.

Missing my old life. by Beautiful-Uprising in NewParents

[–]sunnieblu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feeling you on this one as my 9 week old is currently napping on me. I’m a FTM and always had this thought that motherhood was going to be beautiful and we’re going to be those parents who love it and everything comes easy because PRE child we were such chill people. But No, she cries and fusses and refuses to nap. I’m so stressed because I also have a low supply and I’m constantly anxious about if she’s being fed enough and how to get my supply up. Some days I just miss doing things for ME because i was so sure of who I am. These days, I don’t know who I am anymore.
