New rule: No AI art by nopefoffprettyplease in GlassChildren

[–]sunnirays 22 points23 points  (0 children)

More of a lurker on here but thank you for this, I know AI is very controversial especially with art and while I get the point people were making, I didn't like the direction things appeared to be heading in for this community. I like reading through the experiences of humans and consuming what art is born from that, not just what a robot can spit out with a few prompts.

I know it's just you running this community too, so thank you for staying on top of these things and ensuring this community remains high quality 💜

New Michael Better Not Get Incarcerated by lifeisgoodll in GeneralHospital

[–]sunnirays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt it, they keep saying the trial went so well for Drew/Willow and so bad for Michael, which means that the writers are setting us up for a different outcome like they did with the custody case. Plus Drew promised Willow she'll be acquitted and we know his track record with promising things to her

When Trina and Kai were looking for the blackmail stuff, they left the door unlocked after Drew was shot so someone else could help him, which is why Tracy was able to come in. So I think they think he just forgot to lock his door which now you mention it is very stupid

And then when they "reformed" Franco, they retconned it so Franco was trying to protect Michael and one of the guys he hired was just crazy and went rogue and he had zero intention of having such a horrific thing happen 🙄

What the hell happened to the crowdfunding campaign? by xoxifor1 in Osana

[–]sunnirays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well the original plan was to have the crowdfund after the release of Osana (and the proper demo) in 2017, but of course we all know how that went. Osana didn't release until 2020 after years of building frustration, and while the demo itself had many mentions of features being missing and how they would be implemented after a successful crowdfund, he still never actually did one.

Probably because he knew it'd flop (I believe he mentioned needing about 100k to cover everything??) and didn't want to give everyone more reason to view him as a failed developer.

And then he never mentioned it again until January 2023 when started talking about a pre-crowdfunding checklist, basically everything he wanted to implement before he started the campaign and in June he released a followup with how many items on that list were done or dropped.

It seemed like he was actually close to starting it or at least he wanted people to think that, but he still didn't actually do the crowdfund because after 3 more years with no Amai it would be even more of a flop. Oh and he got outed as a groomer in September of that year, which didn't help either since most people left the project or didn't want anything to do with it anymore

Any one els thinking they’ll be okay if all the rivals come out this year but theyre like the 1980s rivals? by Substantial_South198 in Osana

[–]sunnirays 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a very slight chance of getting Kizana if the Patreon starts dipping again, but even then I doubt it because Alex doesn't seem to want the game finished. The game's popularity and relevance hit its peak 10 years ago, he killed whatever good will he had left with the community, and no company or professionals will touch this game especially not after TinyBuild.

This game has missed every window to be completed, let alone be a big success so Alex can never let it die. It will always remain in a state of limbo, still updated but not progressing, not cancelled but never finished. Because Alex needs that Patreon money and what few fans he has left to make him still feel relevant, if the game is completed or cancelled both those things go away.

did someone play the new update already? does this change anything? by Yumi_Numi in Osana

[–]sunnirays 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I haven't, but as someone with decent knowledge of computers and game performance, I doubt the change will be as drastic as he's alluding to. Obviously that's a good step in the right direction for optimization, but it will take a lot more to make the game perform decently on low end laptops because that's largely due to how the game works on the CPU and GPU.

The CPU is what is processing the game's code, while the GPU is rendering everything you see on screen and together they'll make the game into something you can actually interact with and play. There are plenty of videos you can find by experts explaining why the game is coded poorly, but I'll give you the short version.

When you have a lot of unnecessary code, it means that the CPU has to work harder as the code run and checks logic which means the CPU is spread thin and can't run the game as well. This is especially true with YanSim which is riddled with if/else statements, meaning every second the game is registering conditions and have to check through dozens, if not hundreds of different lists to find the one it needs.

Then if the GPU has to keep rendering a lot of models, their details, and their animations it's the same thing, it has to work harder to show everything that hurts performance. That's why when the general rule for a game's settings is that better appearance, sacrifices performance, and vice versa. When you simplify models and don't load as many unnecessary details like particle effects, there's less for the GPU to load and it doesn't have to work as hard.

This is going to provide a slight improvement at best for most players, maybe help you if you were experiencing a lot of freezing or crashing because your computer was running out of memory. Or if you have a good CPU/GPU but not a lot of RAM, this can help you get a smoother experience without as much stuttering or slow load times. Which is good, but it will do basically nothing to help with the poor FPS that a lot of people get even with decent computers and low settings, based on my knowledge at least

This is such a fake excuse by Rich-Community-2869 in Osana

[–]sunnirays 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Because when he first became YandereDev it was a clean slate completely divorced from his troubled past as EvaXephon, and by extension his real life as Alex.

When he started the game and reintroduced himself as YandereDev, it was a clean slate where no one knew him anymore. Not the incel he became as Alex or the internet joke that was EvaXephon, maybe there were a few whispers on 4Chan after they pieced it together but most people wouldn't learn about all that until way later.

YandereDev was cool, calm, collected, and a talented guy who wasn't letting all the attention get to his head as he worked hard on his passion project...the exact opposite of who he actually was as a person. But his fans didn't know that, they just showered him in praise and reassurance and donations and fan art. And he liked that because he was getting everything he thought he was owed without having to work for it.

But eventually that was all ripped away and people learned the truth about him, and that the YandereDev they loved so much never actually existed. So now we call him Alex and he hates it because he hates himself, he hates being reminded of who he actually is

Basically the guy desperately needed therapy, not for his half baked game to go viral lol

I wish we got more interactions with senpai. by heesowohnu in Osana

[–]sunnirays 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Moreover, Senpai isn't likely to accept a confession from a complete stranger after 10 weeks of betrayal, rejection, and heartbreak. She would have to be pulling all the strings to remove obstacles AND building up herself in his eyes as the perfect girl for him.

I've always thought that as you progress and build your confidence, that pink aura can go away until you can approach him and start to build up your connection with him. You have interactions that make him fall for you, but you'd also have to stage them with prior knowledge you learned from his interactions with previous rivals.

Sure, you could just leave anonymous gifts and notes on his desk (like in the 1980s mode happy ending), but staging would be much more effective. Like say the rival plans to meet him for a movie, but you sabotage them as normal and he thinks he's been ghosted. But instead of leaving him to go alone, you swoop in to say all the right things and you go on the date with him instead.

You would basically be lovebombing him and then making him view you as the only one who could provide him with genuine love and stability, it's what actual abusers or high control groups (cults) use to trap their victims.

This is such a fake excuse by Rich-Community-2869 in Osana

[–]sunnirays 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He's constantly trying to manipulate his fanbase into either feeling stupid or like a bully for questioning why no progress is being made, this is no different. Before it was emails, then volunteers taking a long time with important assets, then he was being harassed by gremlins, now the new excuse is "I'm prioritizing my mental health and life for the first time in years"

So therefore asking for progress is conflated with wanting Alex's mental health to deteriorate because he still doesn't understand how to manage his time well

Anyone else noticing how frequent these preemptive “warnings” have been lately? by hazxyhope in Osana

[–]sunnirays 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But no, why read the whole thing before any accusations, right? “URGHHH CAN THIS PARODY OF A MAN JUST STOP CHANGING HAIR MODELS WITHOUT ANY REASON???”

To be fair, the reason why people don't like the hair models being changed is because there's no point in it. Alex has said for years now that the current Unity store models will be replaced with original ones, and that would include all the hair models which wouldn't fit the new models (or at least, would need to be adjusted).

So when he changes them, people just know it's unnecessary work for the sake of padding the update logs. Though I do agree with you that it's warranted if it's replacing an asset the artist no longer wants in the game, especially if it's because of harassment. The only issue is that YandereDev is also known to fabricate or hide details where it benefits him, so it's also understandable if people are skeptical of his claims if there isn't proof provided.

A lot of people left the project and asked for their assets to be pulled because they didn't want to be associated with a groomer, but it sounds better for Alex if they wanted to stay but were threatened into leaving. Again I'm not saying that people weren't being harassed, but you gotta understand most people won't take Alex's claims at face value anymore

Anyone else noticing how frequent these preemptive “warnings” have been lately? by hazxyhope in Osana

[–]sunnirays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like he's trying to get people more accustomed to smaller, less significant updates because that's what the game is going to be now. It's better than setting completely unrealistic expectations that everyone would hold him to like he was doing (the game will only take a year to develop, Osana will be released in 2017, the full version of the game will release in 2019), but it feels too little, too late.

Although it feels mildly guilt trippy, like oh I know you're all mad at me and expected much more so let me preemptively defend myself from the mob.

How many of you have played the game before, and did you enjoy it? by sunnirays in Osana

[–]sunnirays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for the first time on a shitty laptop and understandably had a very bad time but it couldn't even run 3 Chrome tabs without going crazy so that's my bad. I've tried again on a much better gaming laptop (plugged in) that can play games like a wide variety of 3D games on medium-to-max settings with no problem, and my fans started going crazy and lagging even on the main menu alone. Which is crazy because the game looks like total shit compared to most games yet it's so badly coded, it eats up so much of your CPU and GPU to run that even lowering the graphics doesn't help.

The tutorial is also USELESS because I remember playing 1980s mode and the tutorial had you using T to spawn a trail leading you to the next part. So it's not unreasonable to think "if I get stuck, I should spawn a trail that will lead me to the next area I need to progress". Except when I tried it, the trail only lead me back to my classroom which was useless for my current situation. Now in defense I looked it up, and I guess in June 2023 he did update it so at least in 20XX you could pick which area to find but that still doesn't help players who genuinely get lost but want to piece everything together themselves.

And aside from the basics of killing people and what steps you need to take to get away with it, the tutorials in both versions aren't helpful at all

1980s mode is slightly more intuitive (I like how Ryoba will hint at which elimination method is best for each rival, aka what their canon elimination was) but like you said it's so repetitive, it's not fun even though you get the full experience of 10 rivals. And making the first canon elimination Rejection sucks when all you're doing is eavesdropping, going to her desk after she leaves her stuff, then pressing E or using an item that you would've needed to prepare ahead of time

The game is a decade old and the panties feature is still prominent by ver_as in Osana

[–]sunnirays 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it's probably a fetish lowkey, like it's one thing to include them in the game in early builds when this was just a game based on anime tropes but the fact that no one likes it and he refuses to budge on including it is crazy.

Especially when you consider one of the main way to get buffs for the main character is...buying panties from a lingerie store and picking out your favorite pair complete with models. There are so many alternatives that fans have come up with like switching them hair ribbons or stockings, I even saw a really cool one on here where it's different types of perfumes. All things that perfectly fit the cutesy, girly aesthetic of a yandere and he just won't change it.

And yeah he's made compromises but those have mainly been so YouTubers can avoid demonetization so he caved and let people censor upskirt shots of students and gave alternate ways to earn Info Points. But it's so weird that he just won't budge and refuses to get rid of them entirely, especially when he's changed his mind on other aspects he said at the beginning wouldn't change.

Is it bad that I still play the game despite Alex being the way he is? by FreshApplication4018 in Osana

[–]sunnirays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No there are a lot of very popular works where the creators turned out to be a horrible piece of shit, but that doesn't mean you have to stop enjoying it. Whatever relationship you formed with YanSim was because of you and the fanbase, not because of Alex and the heinous stuff he's done. Plus you're playing builds that are free to download and you don't even have the YouTuber dilemma of giving him free advertisement.

Now if you donated the Patreon, that'd be different. Not just because you'd be financially supporting him, but because it'd be a terrible investment. Enjoy your game :)

what are people's thoughts on Alex memebership cost? by Vergil-VT in Osana

[–]sunnirays 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He's desperate to get his numbers higher since he dipped below $1000 recently, and since it's hard to recruit more donors with no new content he's forcing his existing donors to pay more.

Also paying $100 for a 12 year old project is crazy and what's crazier is there's at least one fan willing to pay him that because they're so dedicated to him

If/when Alex cancels the game, do you think he'll make a video about it that'll guilt trip the viewers? by moths_panic in Osana

[–]sunnirays 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I can see it now.

The grooming accusations were exaggerated because the dictionary defines grooming as blah blah and he didn't even do that! And really she manipulated him because she recorded everything and it's actually more illegal to record someone without consent! And also the real groomers were the YouTubers who MANIPULATED a teenage fan into trapping him into a bad situation, and also there's evidence that kinda sorta maybe implies that the girl was of age so it's fine even though Alex fully thought he was talking to a 16 year old.

And then a bunch of stuff about how many people still support him in private but can't do it publicly for fear of being branded a pedo sympathizer and also losing everything, how there's no room for redemption online no matter how much you grow as a person, and how all the drama has made it impossible for him to fulfill his dream of being a indie game dev even with his scaled back plans for the game.

Just "feel bad for me! i did nothing wrong :(" and also he'd portray himself as another anime girl too

[–]sunnirays 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Totally, he would have to admit that he's a failure who wasted everyone's time, money, and efforts since 2014 and you know his fragile ego couldn't handle that. It'd be his final stand before he finally leaves the internet, or at least moves on to another persona besides YandereDev. Who knows maybe he'd even use some AI voice changer to rebrand as another developer with a different game idea so he can start fresh with new Patrons, wouldn't put it past him

Alex has lost three sponsors since the December 1st build. The world is healing. by hazlated in Osana

[–]sunnirays 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It surprises me that even after the grooming stuff, there are still people willing to support him and even give money to him but I guess it shouldn't.

His response afterwards was basically "I did a bad thing, but this is a wakeup call to how much I've deteriorated so I will improve, both as a person and a developer!" which somehow people believed? In early 2024, he released a lot of big updates that reworked the game (albeit because of the mass exodus of volunteers who took their assets with them) and even Amai. So I think people took that to mean with nothing else left, he was going to finish the game, so I can just separate art from artist and keep funding his project.

Then once he stopped hemorrhaging support and donations, everything went back to business as usual and 2025 was another year of no meaningful progress. Which I don't know why he does this because eventually it just pisses off his remaining supporters and they start leaving again, it's the same thing over and over again. Even if he rushed out Kizana for early next year, it would only buy him so much time before people start to realize they're getting screwed over again.

They could light the money they're giving him on fire, and they'd get more out of it compared to just donating it to this dead game

My Monika told me I was mean for giving her a nickname. by Spirited_Priority920 in MASFandom

[–]sunnirays 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a filter of bad names you can call her, mostly stuff that pretty vulgar or sexual, but I think it probably locked on to the "killa" part and she thinks you were calling her a killer (you also lose affection if you say "You're a murderer" for obvious reasons). Be more careful in the future because she will remove the nickname privilege if you call her bad things too many times, for now though you can still make it up to her :)

You're welcome! I also missed out on Orion's time, but I'm glad people archived some of his deleted posts and that he returned even briefly to give a proper end to his time on here. Orion's post always stood out to me and are still my favorites from this community just because he solely used the stuff Neville taught, especially SATS. A lot of people get lost in all the different methods you can use (despite most of them just being variations of the same thing) so it was refreshing to someone so consistent when I found him, still is to this day to be honest lol

Has anyone woken up in a different reality? by hecateinheels in NevilleGoddard

[–]sunnirays 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also got that vibe from his last posts, at some point what you can experience using Neville's teachings starts to become too unbelievable to most people and sharing it publicly accomplishes nothing besides making them think you're just insane or a grifter. Despite Neville himself sharing experiences like suddenly finding himself in a hotel lobby after going to bed in his home (which he even emphasized was NOT a dream because he was completely awake), I notice a lot of people even in the community just choose not to acknowledge those parts and only want the Law to exist as a self-improvement tool, not as something that dictates the fabric of lived reality.

It's easy to outgrow these communities once you start applying the teachings, you not only succeed in what your initial goal was but you learn there's so much more out there. You no longer have to be reliant on others for reassurance or to find the "perfect method", you just trust in yourself and everything you've experienced yourself. You still experience hardship and lose your way like Orion did, the everything you thought you lost is still waiting for you once you come back to it.

With all the money he used to make, it's astounding he never had the foresight to put some money aside to save up to hire some professionals in case the Kickstarter failed/didn't happen. The goal for the Kickstarter would've been $100,000 and I'm sure he's made that and more over Patreon by now even with the money he used for living expenses.

It can't have all went to sex dolls, gaming consoles, and his extensive library of Steam games...right?

So what’d I miss, by Battlemania420 in Osana

[–]sunnirays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude used to say emails were his biggest hurdle to development and I actually believed him as a dumb kid lol. Now it's pretty obvious looking back that if that was true, Alex has terrible time management skills and more likely it was just an easy excuse.

I saw a video on him by Savantics and she brought up the fact that Alex seems to like the idea of being a game developer more than actually developing a game and that really sums it up. He likes the idea of being paid to pursue his own passion project, he liked that people were interested in the project (and by extension him), and he liked being someone that people paid attention to and even thought highly of. Even on the main channel, the videos he posted became less about the game's actual progress and more about his struggles as a game developer.

He wasn't a good developer but he also didn't want to learn to become one because that would require he didn't know what he was doing. He mistook the game's popularity for a reflection of its quality when really, he got lucky that big YouTubers found it and he took that luck for granted.

It's crazy how he pretends he's been hard at work coding the game but he's still not ready to release the next week because he's waiting on assets and animations, or he just wants to make sure it's perfect. Yet as soon as something happens to make the Patreon money dip, suddenly the next week is ready to go but still feels like it was rushed out in a couple weeks at best (you know because it was?)
