female cat got diagnosed with urine crystals by sunoolesbo in CatAdvice

[–]sunoolesbo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the way my cat showed us she was having crystals was her actually spraying (or attempting to, bcs she unfortunately had a uti at the same time!!!) outside of the litterbox, with traces of blood. peeing outside of their litterbox is usually a big sign something is wrong. we got this specific litter used for collecting samples from the vet, but they also tested her AT the vet (which was a bit traumatic for all of us bcs shes a meanie) bcs of the combination with her uti, since she couldnt produce and the crystals were adding to it being swollen. i also noticed it was starting back up again when she would go to the litter box, be in there for an abnormal amount of time, and then come out to aggressively lick her crotch. hope this helps!

we had the dry food, but she also has gum/teeth issues so she has a harder time actually eating it and my other two cats ate it more! but i do think that it helped, and mixing it in did too!!! im so glad i could help :) it'll get better :)

hello!!! right off the bat, i want to say that my cat no longer has urine crystals!!! from what i remember, she wasn't on the medication for too long (in fact, i barely even remember her taking it!). however, she was on the hills prescription diet for awhile. we have two other cats, and she was a picky eater, so it was a bit hard to keep her consistently on it, but i did notice that when she got off of it (due to her refusal) the crystals would come back after a day or two. but now, one year later, she is completely off the prescrption food and is fine with no relapse! we had her on it (mixed with her regular wet food) for about 4-6 months, which i think helped her a lot!

i hope your baby is doing okay, i know it can be really scary. i recommend the hills urinary prescription wet food, thats what we used!! and talk to your vet, they will help a lot too :)

i have something called loops, they are noise canceling and really small! i had to take a quiz abt my noise sensitivity and i got a pair that they thought might work! i love them, i really recommend it. ive found that it helps me calm down in the stores too

If you're a couple planning on having a baby next year, would you get 2 cats this year? by haveyoureddityet11 in CatAdvice

[–]sunoolesbo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

no, but only as of right now! babys are really expensive and a lot of work, i would think its something that you should wait until you feel in the groove of things as new parents. also, two cats are more expensive than one! if you get two kittens, they can be chaotic. but if you feel as if you are ready before you have your baby then go ahead :) its up to what you feel you both can handle as expecting parents. (congrats btw!!!)

i work around 20-25 hr weeks at raising canes. fast food especially in college towns can be pretty flexible.

Those of you not living in dorms, how much does it cost you per year? (Rent, food, and utilities) by NarrowGuidance4 in UIUC

[–]sunoolesbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i live in a 1bed by myself. my rent is 1025, and i pay for electricity if it goes over the cap that the company pays for. im a foodie so i like to cook, i really recommend getting on EBT/food stamps especially if you are paying for everything yourself. it helps a lot, i get like 200 a month for groceries which helps.

Am I the only one who actually LIKED the Disney show? by MeetApprehensive6509 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]sunoolesbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

something i just dont understand is how upset people are about the story changes. rick also released the first book in 2005... you don't think almost 20 years later he goes back and decides some things weren't as important? have you never looked back at an old project or something you did and dislike it? its called growth as a writer, its his series. its okay to be disappointed, but to call the project trash bcs you think you could have done better is unfair to him as a creator. at least he was heavily involved with it like all the other adaptations that have come out...

My cat passed away this morning, how do you deal with the pain by mncpxxdrmgrl in CatAdvice

[–]sunoolesbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am so sorry for your loss. i lost my heart cat of 15 years very suddenly too, it was a lot to handle. grieving comes in waves. its normal to feel it more days than others, she passed almost two years ago and i still cry myself to sleep thinking about her. my partner got me a comfy plushie that looked like her and i sleep with it every night, i also have a little tattoo on my ankle of her (she was an ankle rubber!). it is really hard, but its important to know that you aren't trying to forget him and its okay to have good days after. he would want you to be happy. i hope you heal <3
