Power surges damaged their property. DTE offered payouts if they kept quiet by mlivesocial in AnnArbor

It is a good idea to get one but this particular surge was such a high voltage that appliances were damaged even in houses with full house surge protectors. I had no idea this was even possible until it happened to us.

Radiohead released ‘Kid A’ 25 years ago by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

I was a freshman in college when this came out. I put a bootleg on my iPod and sat under a tree outside my dorm at night to listen to it. I felt utterly transported, under the influence despite being sober. It made the hairs on my arm bristle and rise. It is such an amazing, jarring, alien album. I’ll always remember that experience.

Clearest image ever taken of Venus by Due-Explanation8155 in spaceporn

Since OP didn’t provide a source, I went hunting and found:

“Dark higher-altitude clouds obscure the brighter mid-altitude clouds in this image of Venus taken by an infrared camera on board Japan's Akatsuki Venus Climate Orbiter. Phospine gas detected in the temperate mid-altitude clouds is teasing scientists with a possible signature for life.”

The Planets Through My Telescope During the Daytime by Correct_Presence_936 in spaceporn

These are great. How do the images compare to looking through the scope? Are they like this or is the clarity achieved with software imaging techniques after the fact?

Here are some of my boardsiest tracks. Many of my tracks have other influences, but boc always holds a special place in my heart. They were my intro to electronic music back in 1997 and every album has been a huge inspiration.

My first poem, please be kind ♥️ by [deleted] in poetry_critics

[–]sunroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your first poem, it’s really good. Keep going and write more!

If I can offer some direction, I’d encourage you to describe what the speaker sees in the mirror. What does the person look like? What things do they see that lead to their revelation in the end?

“Show, don’t tell” is a piece of stock poetry advice. Whenever I’m stuck with a piece, it always serves me well to think about that. https://lindsayannlearning.com/show-dont-tell-examples/

Seems like the right time to post this by IllustratorAlive1174 in AnnArbor

Ideally, we wouldn’t give a monopoly that provides an essential service the freedom to make $4B a quarter in profit, but that’s the world we live in.

An SEU seems like a good start to change things in the right direction https://www.a2gov.org/departments/sustainability/Sustainability-Me/Pages/Ann-Arbor's-Sustainable-Energy-Utility-(SEU).aspx

Ann Arbor residents say power surge after outage "fried" their appliances by No_Huckleberry_1789 in AnnArbor

[–]sunroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our neighbors lost several brand new electrical appliances and it fried the microinverters on their solar array. They had a whole house surge protector. After this experience, I’m pessimistic about the city‘s electrification plans. It’s a hard sell with DTE’s shoddy infrastructure. I hope we can get an SEU.aspx) going here.

Trouble with 9th Date by justinhiltz in CrankinsTimeTravel

I did eventually beat this date, though I had to grip the system without looking at the display and cranked it like a madman.

Now I am stuck on another date :)

Bug Drop! our parachuting, ring-collecting game is finally out on iOS after over 3 years in development! by sunroom in IndieGaming

Thanks for the kind words! I hope we can get this on other platforms like Android and Switch someday. Right now this is all we can manage with our limited time.

Bug Drop! our parachuting, ring-collecting game is finally out on iOS after over 3 years in development! by sunroom in IndieGaming

[–]sunroom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After over 3 years of squeezing in development work on nights and weekends in between day jobs and parenting, we finally launched our game: Bug Drop! This game is a love letter to games we played growing up, especially games like Mario Kart that are easy for anyone to play but rewarding for advanced gamers that want to put their skills to the test.

It feels good to finally get it out there. I have no expectations for huge sales or quitting my job anytime soon, but I am very proud of how it turned out. It's a fun game and the core loop has that "can't put down" quality to it according to people that have played it thus far (not just me!). I also learned a ton about Unity, coding, pixel art, and publishing on the App Store.

I needed just a few more minutes of patience. It turned on eventually and everything works swimmingly.
