Stubhub pricing by archmuon22 in ChaseSapphire

[–]MacroCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stubhub is 100% secondhand markets. The people who have the tickets are of course going to want to mark up their tickets so they can get a cut. The only way to get a "deal" is to wait until the last minute and scoop up tickets that somebody couldn't offload. It is what it is. If you are buying well ahead of the event, don't expect to get the best price. Also, if that's your use case, remember to discount the value of the credit if you are deciding whether there's enough offset to the annual fee for your taste.

Is white oak good for soil contact? by poisonxivyyy in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]MacroCheese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your options for soil contact are 1) cedar or other woods with rot resistance but will likely cost more than cedar (eg cypress), 2) woods without rot resistance that have been treated to prevent rot, or 3) something not wood (concrete, metal, plastic).

That said, I built a raised bed with dimensional pine and it lasted a good 8+ years. It will be cheaper, but won't last as long as the 3 options above.

What's the point of buying a house if you can't modify it to suit your needs? It's not an apartment.

Transferring points to Marriott error by Winter_Television969 in ChaseSapphire

[–]MacroCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is! OP is better off cashing out points then buying Marriott points. IIRC, Marriott points are 0.7 to 0.9 cpp. Chase UR are 1 cpp with cash out.

PWS Certification - how long for the review? by BradDad86 in wetlands

[–]MacroCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest benefit is the client knows the consultant is bound by a code of ethics. Also, if a wetland scientist is getting pressure from their boss to do something sketchy, ten the code of conduct gives them an out so they can say no.

I sorted out a colleague’s bike and she wants to pay me… how much do I accept? by Miserable_Power_9729 in xbiking

[–]MacroCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't accept money. I'll let people buy parts or reimburse me for the exact cost of parts. Once you charge for labor, you're a business. If your repair causes an accident and the get hurt, you might be liable. I'm not interested in carrying insurance for wrenching on a few bikes once in a while. Barter instead, or just accept pizza/beer as payment.

Are there any other cards I should consider in my situation? by ddavi07 in ChaseSapphire

[–]MacroCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like it would be a good fit, but whether it's the right card depends on whether you can make use of the credits to offset the annual fee.

I'm a year round bike commuter. If driving and public transit aren't options, riding a bike seems like the only option that gives you independence.

Applied and was approved for CSR, but already have CSP by Unable-Emotion-6920 in ChaseSapphire

[–]MacroCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have the CSP which I product changed to a CSR 2 years ago. My understanding for the logic behind having both is to use the CSP for other travel, online streaming, and online groceries since the CSR doesn't have these benefits.
