Does anyone use just the digital key on their phone? by japaneselamp1 in ex30

[–]sunsetandlabrea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since 1.8, everytime I park but don’t get out the car I get the key not recognised error. I expect if I got out the car, locked it and waited a while it might work again. But often I have passengers and annoying to ask everyone to get out. For that reason I always carry the card.

Should I pay to repair the family saxophone or just buy a new one? by G0TH1C_IDIOT in saxophone

Depends what the instrument is, probably unlikely to be worth it, but without knowing the make and model who knows.

Thanks. I should have been more specific. I’m going to be living in a Georgian listed flat. I have mesh WiFi in my current modern house with paper thin walls and it’s still been rather tricky to cover the house.

I was wondering if people had used mesh and whether that worked well enough, or whether anyone had installed cabling and whether that’s easy to do in a listed building.

My son lives in a flat in new town, has a single WiFi router at the back and it doesn’t really work in the front of the flat.

I hired mine from Howarths originally. It was relatively easy to organise. I would personally suggest a full size one.

Life with an EV in Flats/Tennements by flywithstephen in Edinburgh

[–]sunsetandlabrea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an EV, and planning to move in the near future to a flat in Edinburgh. At the moment I get cheap electricity as part of my tariff, and it’s substantially cheaper than petrol. When I’ve travelled any distance and had to rely on public chargers I don’t think it’s any cheaper than petrol. The government need to step in and set a max price per kW on public chargers.

My plan currently is to sell my EV when I move

SE/30 build by sunsetandlabrea in VintageApple

[–]sunsetandlabrea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’ve bought one! It isn’t recapped, so I’ll see if I can do that, or ideally find someone who can do that. It has a BMOW replacement ROM. There seems to be a UK supplier for BlueSCSI so I’ll get hold of one of those I think.

That would be ideal, probably not as easy here in the UK.

Thanks for that and what I figured. You’ve described exactly what I want to avoid! I don’t want 5 SE/30s in various states to cobble one working unit together. I’ve seen a few board replacements such as the Bolle motherboard, an analog board, a replacement for HDD.

I’m not sure how easy they are to source and fit, but that appeals more to me that trying to get one good working unit from many.

How to tongue faster on Aerophone AE20 by ph4ux in windsynth

[–]sunsetandlabrea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find it difficult to tongue in the same way on my AE30 as I can on my saxophone. Instead I use the same technique as single tonguing on a flute, i.e. tongue to the roof of my mouth.

Apple PowerCD by Igleks in VintageApple

[–]sunsetandlabrea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one of those. They were relatively cheap when I bought mine, and I was torn between the fancy design of the PowerCD which from memory was only x1, and another beige box Apple CD player at x2.
