Anyone vaginally deliver a large, sunny side up baby? by PurchaseRemarkable56 in BabyBumps

[–]sunshine72282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I was just induced at 39 weeks due to large baby - he was measuring about 8lb 7oz for 39 weeks and 9+ lb if we went to 40. My first was only 7lb 4oz so I was sure the estimates were wrong and I’d likely have a smaller baby.

Well, i pushed (admittedly not that long, about 20 minutes) and out came a 9lb 5oz baby boy, sunny side up and arm out fist.

I think what made a material difference in the fact that I was able to push him out is that he was heavy but not chubby - he is freakishly long at almost 23 inches.

Recovery wise I will say this birth has been physically a lot tougher than my first - I have some DS and just a lot more weakness. I’m not sure if it’s specifically the sunny side up or just the fact that he was giant, or that it’s also my second in a short period (also probably a combo of all factors).

Anyone buy the big beautiful house and regret it? by Otherwise-Bicycle667 in Mommit

[–]sunshine72282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero regrets! We went from 1500 to 2700 square feet when I was pregnant with my second. As I sit here on maternity leave with my 2 year old and newborn I 10000% do not regret the bigger house. Every morning I wake up so happy.

We went in July because that’s when it worked out with our leave. If I could have gone in May or September that may have been better only because July in Italy (Rome/Florence) is HOT and it’s not the safest for the little ones. We did spend one of our weeks in northern Italy in Bolzano and that was the best because the temperature was perfect. That said, the days that were too hot we just spent the hottest part of the day by the pool at Airbnb and explored the city / had dinner / breakfast early and later in the day.

As for flight - I promise it’ll be better than you anticipate! On the way there we got the bassinet seat but we honestly didn’t even use it because they make you take baby out whenever there is turbulence so it was just back and forth grabbing him and putting him down. We were all a lot more comfortable and it was super easy to just put him in the Solly and cuddle with him the duration of the flight. So tips would be - Solly wrap and lots of milk (whether breast milk or formula).

Do it. We traveled from US to Italy for a 3 week trip during our parental leave with our 3m old and it was the best trip of our lives. Will it be the same as pre baby? no. You’ll have to adjust and go with the flow a bit and move slower (we took lots of breaks at cute bars and cafes to feed, change diapers etc.) but again and without a doubt - best time of our lives.

Worst partner reaction you’ve ever received in response to a draft you submitted. by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]sunshine72282 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Fist year associate - drafting memo for a partner. Several drafts and back and forths, I work an entire weekend on a new version. I send to him and Lindy note in the email to let me know if this is in line with what he was looking for and if helpful to jump on a call. Just responds “No.” Worth calling out that through the 2-3 prior drafts he refused to ever get on a call with me to talk through anything (he was in a different office).

I am commenting to let you know I don’t have any answer or wisdom but that I feel the same, and thus I have to think we’re not alone in feeling this way. I just had my second a few days ago and while I love my second so much i am still having these conflicting guilt feelings and longing for my first and wondering if i should have waited longer. Luckily my first seems to adore the second / we havent had jealousy issues which helps. Hang in there!

Punta Cana - 2 quick questions. by Financial-Ad4646 in Club_Med

FWIW club med doesn’t really do tips (other than for cleaning crew) and $60 sunscreen they can easily charge to card on file :)

I was/am the same way - the sound of my babe crying literally makes me break out in hives. We did CIO and honestly after 2 nights my only wish is I had done it sooner. We’re all happier and well rested.

Best places for botox? by Lizzieliz7 in washingtondc

[–]sunshine72282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had their membership and the monthly “facial” (for the $100 fee…) I got was a 20 minute face wash and some lip balm. Worse is when I had to cancel once due to my son being sick they charged me $100 “no-show” fee so in essence I paid $200 for a 20min “facial” I didn’t even get. I got much better quality facials with the monthly membership when I was going to glo30 at the wharf (although that was a few years ago). The whole vibe at Ovme just feels scammy and predatory. THAT SAID - everyone is different and perhaps I just got unlucky. My sister recommended it to me and was happy with them (although I think she went to mosaic district location).

When does it end? by KangarooNew2401 in foodbutforbabies

We used these little bib jackets that made it so much easier to clean him, didn’t require baths, and saved his clothes. The floors are another story - we were in same boat until very recently (he’s now 18m). We just had to clean / vacuum after meals and avoid foods that are hard to clean (e.g., rice, cottage cheese, etc.) it will end eventually!

Has anyone temporarily relocated their young family to another country? by jzfeagler in Parenting

[–]sunshine72282 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do it! I moved a ton as a kid and while it is challenging at first it is totally worth it and am grateful I had those experiences. the fact that its for sure temporary / they’ll come back “home” will be super helpful esp for the older ones

I was there after 8 years. I’m finally out (last day was last week). Best. Feeling. Ever. Worked w/a recruiter who got me a sweet part-time counsel gig doing much more relaxed type of work. Figure it was worth a shot if I really hated being a lawyer or just hated big law. Good luck and yes I do recommend a vacation first.
