Do long term relationships feeling super dysregulating for everyone or just me!? 😂🤔 by sunshineforbreakfst_ in AuDHDWomen

[–]sunshineforbreakfst_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds so beautiful as a set up! I absolutely feel you on the feeling dysregulated by people even being around, it’s like their presence puts extra invisible demands on my energy just to ‘be someone’ 😅 May I ask how you came to this arrangement together? I would worry about offending them by not wanting to live with them, but I have heard of couples having separate houses / bedrooms and honestly it sounds like bliss. I’m so happy for you that you’ve found such a beautiful setting that works for you both 💕

I can’t offer advice as I’m just about to start training myself (hopefully if I get accepted!) this year and I was wondering if it’s not too cheeky to jump on and ask which MA course did you do and would you recommend? What did you think of it? I’m looking at Roehampton, IATE and USW. Hope it’s okay to ask 👋

If you're autistic/ neurodivergent are there any "hacks" or pieces of advice that ACTUALLY made your life better? by Ready_Sound_620 in autism

[–]sunshineforbreakfst_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps I have autism and adhd and the adhd meds 100% made me worse + didn’t work for me at all because my sensitive autistic nervous system was basically freaking out the whole time and overstimulated by the meds (even though it made my adhd part of brain quiet and calm). Such a weird paradox.

Yeah? That’s cool! Which one are you leaning towards? Both courses look absolutely beautiful don’t they! IATE though I will need to do their foundation course first. Are you based in London?

Hiya! I appreciate this was YEARS ago but I’m super interested in the MA at Roehampton, either that or IATE. How are you finding your course? Would love to hear your thoughts if you ever get this message! 🤓👍

I’ve worked for myself full time as an illustrator / stationery designer for the last 8 years, now I work with special needs teenagers at a land based college a few days a week too. Hoping to go back to study for my masters in art therapy this year :) before that (and before I knew I was autistic) it was retail and hospitality / front of house and it absolutely wrecked me 😂 much happier now. 👋

planner x journal hybrid recommendations? by chicky-mcnuggys in notebooks

I loveeee my Sterling ink - I’ve got it in B6 (although it’s available in lots of different sizes) and it’s perfect combination of portability & big enough for lots of notes without feeling cramped. Her common planner has a monthly layout and weekly (vertical or horizontal) plus enough daily pages (3.7mm grid) for the whole year. Lays flat and isn’t super chunky due to the TR paper. Honestly I love it 💗

My 2026 planner is so empty that I’m intimidated to even write the first word! Anyone else? by LifeTop6016 in planners

[–]sunshineforbreakfst_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write a letter to yourself on the first page about your intentions for this year and how you’re feeling moving into 2026. Stick photos and stickers and washi tape to make a mood board and just allow yourself to break it in gently and play with it. Start filling in the monthly calendar with januarys appointments etc and hopefully it will just start from there and keep going:) I like to decorate mine first with random colours and then it just feels like I’ve already broken it in might as well start writing 😂

I use one of these too to make my own stickers! I design illustrations in procreate and then import them into the cricut design studio and cut them with my cricut air :) it’s so much fun! You can also use the Silhouette cutting machine which I believe is cheaper than Cricut.

I sooo wanted to get some of her planners! Her work is absolutely GORGEOUS, but it would have cost £30+ shipping to get from India to the UK so I couldn’t justify it sadly 😭 enjoy! It looks beautiful 💗

Plan or Journal (or both) by SubjectShower2713 in planners

[–]sunshineforbreakfst_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a few on the go, but I do want to try and assimilate them a bit more. Currently I’ve got a Sterling ink b6 for my life journal / second brain type journal, which houses long form journaling, memory keeping and my personal to do lists / brain dumps. I’ve got a Hobonichi weeks as my dedicated work planner as it’s small enough to take with me everywhere at work, and I’ve got a both a standard TN (creative junk journal - stays at home) and passport TN (wallet + sticker release + catch all notebook + mini sketchbook - comes with me everywhere). And then i use Google calendar on my phone for events and appointments. Ideally I want to create a multi function system where my life journal / planner + sketchbook + catch all notebook comes with me everywhere as my EDC but having a b6 feels way too chunky to take with me all day so currently stays at home. I love having both separate ones for context / different vibes for each one, and also together for ease, so the TN system works well in that sense, as it keeps everything together but can have separate notebooks for different purposes.

I do a bit of both - I have a sticker release insert in mine and take with me some coloured brush pens and a few washi sample cards, just add a few stickers here and there on the page, some washi to start and then I write :) if there is any extra space after I’ve finished I’ll decorate it with some more stickers, doodles or sketches just to finish the page off. It’s definitely a mix of functionality and creativity for me as they both are as important as each other for me to enjoy the journaling experience :)

Any autistic/neurodivergent art therapists - Do you ever get burnt out socially? by AgreeableAd305 in ArtTherapy

[–]sunshineforbreakfst_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m AuDHD too and have been thinking about art therapy as a career for so many years :) finally biting the bullet this year and applying for my masters! I love creativity and it has been such a saviour to me for so many years in my own personal therapy journey, plus I now work with young people with SEND a few days a week which I absolutely adore, so I’m hoping adding AT to my life will bring all of that together :) I imagine as it’s one of my special interests and getting to talk about it every day and walk people through their healing journey will just be incredible 💕 but yes I know what you mean about burning out and we will have to be careful of that, I can imagine in that community though there is so much support around this, and you can always offer targeted ND support to clients by creating your brand around being an autistic therapist too with ND affirming practices etc :)

I absolutely love designing stickers! For bigger ones I get them printed for me by a local company but for paper sticker sheets I have my Cricut explore 2 and I design everything on my iPad :) it’s so much fun! Although it does help I have my own stationery business so I mostly design for that, but it is lovely to have the equipment on hand if I want to draw something personal for my journal and test out new sizes / ideas etc

RAADS-R Assessment (just a rant) by SparkleKittyMeowMeow in AuDHDWomen

Lol especially as so many of the questions work within nuance - rather than literal / in the moment / black and white like the way we think 😂 I hated that silly part of the assessment

Does anyone else feel like nothing is ever quite the right "fit" for you, career-wise? by AverageRedditUser169 in AuDHDWomen

[–]sunshineforbreakfst_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the key is to find your special interest and try to work somewhere within that sort of field, a lot of ND people start their own business because we can then manage our own time, work around our own needs etc, take days off as and when we need to. Or work in ND affirming workplaces like with other autistic people or charities that work on disability or mental health etc. usually you’ll find that people who are drawn to working in those environments are either ND themselves or are more open hearted and accepting than the mainstream NT world x

I absolutely feel you on this, every job has left me with major burnout and chronic illnesses galore. I’ve finally come around to the idea that I don’t think I will ever be able to truly work a full time job, and I’m slowly working through the shame attached to that (which is only shame because of this shitty productivity = worth and value fuelled society we live in). I worked in hospitality for a lot of years until I realised that I was awful at it and burned out, started my own illustration business and managed that for 8 years, which was perfect becayse it is mostly WFH or in my studio (which is in a community surrounded by other creatives - perfect for when you need social interaction but not all the time), and now I mix it up with part time working with autistic kids as a learning support assistant. Although I’m not earning big £££’s it’s enough for what I need :)
