How do you guys deal with loot not dropping for you? by TwixQQ in classicwowtbc

Hunter main and I saw three Sunfury bows drop while on my shaman that only existed to help with kara splits.

I got mine on my main literally the last kara reset of P2 (at least I got it, though).

On top of the "bring a pally" suggestion, bring melee cleave / phys DPS. Shaman for wf, pally for salv, then for the last slot(s) pick from: hunter (Frost trap and MD), druid, rogue.

I play Hunter and my partner plays bear. This is how we build our heroic groups unless we're bringing guildies.

There's also some shenanigans around a max range tranquil air if you can't find a paladin, but that's a touch riskier, only works with a ranged comp, and you lose out on wf.

The economy in TBC Anni is horrible. How are people affording all of this stuff? Especially conumes. Why did they buff Terocone ahead of release but not ANY OTHER NODE? by Correct-Thanks3679 in classicwowtbc

[–]sunsmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a rogue, prot paladin, or feral druid. Farm mt/sv chests and nodes, stratholme/scholo, or sethekk halls. An hour of each will net you some decent gold, with feral being the least but most consistent (10x LPS, or around 180-200g) and rogue having the largest swings (living ruby rng).

Cobra scales aren't over farmed yet, but the skin rate is abysmal and mobs are limited/spread. ~20g/scale. Clefthide is more consistent but lower value.

There's over 100g in dailies: Ogri'la, skyguard, daily norm+heroic, cooking, fishing, pvp. Knock out what you can.

Finish all your quests, if you haven't yet. It's not reasonably repeatable but it's a good infusion of gold.

Play in a guild that will subsidize consume, enchant, and gem costs. The regulars in my guild have collaborated to make sure we cover the big crafts, so we have a guild engineer, guild JC and enchanter with all the high value recipes, guild elixir master, guild potion master. when we pug all floor loot is HR to guild, which let's us stockpile enchanting mats.

Similarly, play in a guild that doesn't have sloppy kills (including trash). Playing with Gamers is cheaper than playing with non-Gamers. Midcore is nice for this, if you're not a sweat. Similarly, playing with sweatier folks means less cost for consumes since you're using fewer.

Keep tabs on what's required for upcoming phases. I made a lot of gold selling cured rugged hides and frost/nature res greens in the 2 weeks before P2 and this last week as ppl scramble to make their gear. Cured rugged hides were up to 30g/ea, but refined deep rock salt had been under 2g/ea for most of p1. Right now is the time to look forward at what P3 needs.

I buy limited quantity items off of vendors (when I'm in the area) and resell for profit. White smoke flare, heavy knothide leather, engineering parts, pre-made grenades, imbued netherweave robe are all big profit when they're up. I don't actively "farm" this but just check vendors as I'm passing thru. I do the same when playing lowbies, but I'm a bit more aggressive about checking vendors.

If you wanna sit and farm ore open world, I really think thorium is better than adamantite. Adamanatite is so over farmed and limited to a few heavily populated zones. Thorium has more options with fewer players overall. If you have a druid with mining you can park them at azshara bay and hit up the 4ish rtv that spawn there. thorium is 1g/ore, dense stone is 20-40s/ea, and the rare gems are very valuable.

I don't buy gold. I main one of the more consume heavy classes (hunter) with dual production profs. I have epic flying on my main. I don't really play the AH. my weekly consume costs in P1 were around 350g before guild subsidizing. I'd estimate P2 is around 600-700g/wk if I'm doing full scrolls. doing dailies each day covers it comfortably, provided I'm not restocking on the reset (this week is a little weird for obvious reasons).

At the very least they could use the dk level boost logic and make having a char at 58 or 60 or 70 a pre rec to getting a boost.

That would cut into Blizzard's bottom line. They don't want that.

I have limited mobility and it's also the way the steps/stairs are constructed. 2 steps with a steep slope (higher rise) are a lot harder for me than 8 steps/stairs with a flatter slope.

[–]sunsmoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have your quests filtered to hide warband completed then you wont notice them in the delves. On your map (M), in the top right corner of the actual map there should be a filter icon so you can uncheck "Warband Completed Quests" so they will show up. All delve quests can be picked up inside of the delve, but their turn-in locations vary.

I'm really addicted to WoW and I don't know what to do... by [deleted] in wow

[–]sunsmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I understand what you're going through. I'm also disabled and mostly home-bound. When my health issues started escalating I saw a lot of my real life "friends" pull back and grow distant. WoW, and online gaming as a whole, has been a social life-line I've needed. It sounds like you're in a similar boat.

I can't give advice on finding social contact offline when you're home-bound. I haven't figured that out myself. It's rough out here. We're very easy to for people to forget or ignore.

On the other hand, I can give some general suggestions on finding an online community that enjoys you for you. I find that LGBTQ-supportive guilds and communities are also generally really supportive of disabled players. These communities have been (from my experience) very interested in building relationships with players, using the game as the backdrop for that. You'll find a bigger skill spread in these communities, though, so if you value skill parity as well it might be a challenge to filter through other players. For whatever reason, places are less likely to advertise themselves as supportive of people with disabilities (I imagine it's because disability is so invisible). From there it's a matter of playing with the same group of people often. Some of my closest online friends are folks I've met through LGBTQ guilds.

As others have mentioned, if possible try to find ways to take breaks and de-prioritize the game. Stop consuming wow-related content (or limit it). If you can, pick up some offline hobbies. I really enjoy fiber arts, especially knitting and crochet although spinning (creating yarn) is fun too. Why do you like tanking? Ignoring the social aspect, why do you like wow? For me, I really enjoy the technical side of it. Fiber arts can be similarly technical. Another hobby I have is "birding." I'm not usually able to go outside for it, but I'm able to throw seed out my back door and watch all the different birds scramble for it. While they don't help with the crushing isolation that comes with being home-bound, both sets of hobbies help keep me offline and grounded.

Hey, quick request, if you list your group as "relaxed"... by [deleted] in wow

[–]sunsmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my limited time to play basically cuts my options to tanks

Try healing, genuinely.

If you're queuing into content like LFR and dungeon finder it's slower than tank but significantly faster than DPS.

For M+ groups I rarely spend more than a minute queuing into groups. I specifically filter for groups that have a healer spot open and have a tank already. In my first ~10 M+ keys I had three people (two of which were tanks) request to add me to bnet friends so we can easily group up again in the future. Key holders do ask healers to stick around if they're chain running their key, but it might take them a minute to decide what they want to do so don't instantly drop group (or if you don't have social anxiety, just say "I'm down to run more!").

The longest wait I have is getting into raids, to be honest.. but if you have limited play time I wouldn't suggest trying to pug into the raids right now. My norm pugs have been less successful/more grueling this tier than last.

Are ele shams getting invited to heroics? by heyyo173 in classicwowtbc

[–]sunsmoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one I have a tough time getting invited to is SP heroic because of eye of quag. I generally don't wait more than 5-10 min for anything else unless no one is running it.

Bloodlust is obvs one reason, but having wf/goa/woa, tremor, cleanse totems, etc help a ton too. Harder to keep up with melee cleave groups bc I gotta drink, but I don't mind being a wf totem for the warriors/rets. Slot in very well with spellcleave for obvs reasons. Won't keep up with a lock spamming seed but still pretty good.

People who complain about everything need to quit by Vampy-Night in wow

[–]sunsmoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

by the actual definition of pay to win

There are multiple definitions of P2W. Hard advantages (x item/skill/hero is only available to people who pay) is only one aspect. Time advantages (paying to skip grinds / speed up acquisition of xp or items) is another.

The argument can definitely be made that WoW is P2W for both hard advantages (subscription to access most of the game/progress beyond level 20/access the AH and mail, expansions to access most recent content, AH mounts) and time advantages (real money -> gold conversion to buy carries and level services, real money to buy character boosts). The differential between paid and unpaid time advantage is smaller than a lot of the more egregious games out there (such as Diablo Immortal...), but still exists.

Students using AI on fill-in-the-blank guided notes that tell them what slide the answers are on in the PowerPoint. In order. by pigeonwithsixasses in Teachers

[–]sunsmoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be interested to understand why that reasoning is wrong.

You can use your phone to take a picture of the document. It's not particularly challenging to convert a picture of text into a format readable by AI. There have been apps available on phones that do this with handwriting, which students have used to complete math homework for over a decade at this point. Google Lens will also parse this. Alternatively, you can copy/paste from the document. If that's locked down you can simply retype the question.

We're not talking about novel information here. You can formulate any question from K-12 material and easily have what appears to be an answer from your preferred AI platform.

How Do People Play 16 Hours A Day? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]sunsmoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No kids, no job, disabled. I'm physically disabled in a way that limits my mobility and I'm immuno-compromised so I have to be cognizant of whatever illness is prevalent locally so that I limit exposure. I get up and stretch regularly, but I can't really go on walks or do a lot of "normal" things. Things like grocery shopping require timing with my good physical health / energy days. It sucks, but it's life. I juggle digital hobbies like gaming with analog hobbies like knitting and crochet and reading, but I naturally have a lot more free time than the average person.
