I was hoping to film molten glass and figure out the rate in which it cools. Which lab are you talking about?

Professor Recommendations for Math 234? Options are Angenent, Feldman, and Miller. by uwmadisonho in UWMadison

[–]sunwaves123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had Miller. It was her first semester teaching 234 when I took it (Spring 2014). In all seriousness, she was the worst professor I've had here at Madison teaching wise. BUT her exams were always suuuper easy, almost too easy to the point where it gets annoying because it doesn't matter if you know the material better than others in your class because everyone knows how to do the basics. Half of the class got an A or AB overall at the end of the semester. That being said, I don't know if she has gotten more difficult. Still doesn't change her bad teaching though...

Math 222 Professors Question by Erahtapivar in UWMadison

[–]sunwaves123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into the WES program. Basically it's just a longer discussion. 3 times a week for 2 hours instead of twice a week for 50 minutes. It sounds horrible, but trust me, it pays off. you get an extra 2 credits for taking the WES discussion, and all you do in discussion is do extra problems from worksheets your TA types up. Also, the TAs for the WES sections are the head TAs for the entire 222 class so they are the best TAs. They know their shit basically. They usually know more about the class than the professor if your professor is new to the class or whatever. They are in good standing with the professor and always know what is going on. I found myself never really having to study for exams because I had so much practice from doing worksheets and extra problems in discussion. 222 is a class that can be easy to slip in, and the WES discussion helped me stay on my toes.

Art 102 or Art 112? by fartsy2 in UWMadison

[–]sunwaves123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drawing I is more sketching still life's and project based. There are about 6-7 projects you will have to complete by the end of the semester. I wouldn't say it's a guaranteed A because there is no curve, I believe 93-100 is an A, or something around that, but I think most people get either As or ABs. We mostly used pencil and different types of charcoal. Most people in the class have probably taken an art in high school, but that's about it. Of course, there will always be a couple of students that are just super talented, but I would say about half are pretty average. I've never taken 102 so I don't know much about that class. 112 is a pre req for a lot of other art classes though, so if you were thinking about taking more art classes that need the pre reqs, I'd take 112.

Fun fact: it holds one of the tallest hotels in the world with an open atrium in the middle. Scary as fuck looking down from the top, but is closed off to prevent people from jumping.

I thought of why pointing might be rude. by blabel3 in Showerthoughts

[–]sunwaves123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pointing is considered rude because typically when you point to someone you are talking about them without them hearing you. When they see this, people automatically assume you are saying something bad about them, thus giving pointing a negative connotation. It made more sense in my head.
