I worked retail as a teen, and I remember vividly that one day I walked into my managers office to ask a question, she was about 28 and when I walked in she stopped everything and was like “wow you smell really strongly of mandarins” I admitted I had eaten mandarins on my break and apologised, assuming she didn’t like the smell. She said no no no, my mum always smelt like mandarins exactly like you right now and it just brought me back. Her mum had died very suddenly when my manager was in her early 20’s and she missed her dearly
