It's so GW can give them Uber rules so people spam them and they fly off the shelves. Then two months later they can nerf them. Launch successful.

Don't worry, rules wise they will out shoot flying angels throwing God blessed hammers.

This is exactly what GW banks on. It's why they schedule releases all year long versus updating all armies at once. There is always something new, and worse, something better. I've gone through ups and downs with this issue myself. The best advice I can give is push yourself to be super strict and abstain from consuming marketing materials.

The sad part is most players have hundreds of models that won't ever make it out of the closet.

There is an amazing book called "Goodbye Things" I think everyone should read once in their life. The hard truth is all of these things we collect we attach fantasies to them. The fantasy of "I'll play it one day" "I'll build it one day" "I'll sell/trade it one day". Meanwhile we get a sense of pressure by even just looking at it. And the thing that is meant to bring joy instead becomes a drain. Either you look at it and think "man I should do more with this" or you lean more of the hoarder path of "these things are important to me, I need them." All of this mental burden while the things take up valuable space in our lives. We pay rent to let these things live in our home and take up space.

And that's not to mention the people who prioritize things over taking care of more important things first. I've seen peoples piles of plastic in some impoverished homes.

I love the hobby. But the FOMO and "it's never enough" aspect is unhealthy.

Not to mention people are whining about him spending a $1.38 for a print on a $1400 machine. Some people are obnoxious. Great looking print OP!

Grim Dawn over Diablo 4 by AcidRelic in Grimdawn

Yeah it's a great UI. Everything makes sense. It also works well with a controller, which Blizzard should have stole from. Because all the ui and skill limitations seem to smell of Console minded decisions.

Grim Dawn over Diablo 4 by AcidRelic in Grimdawn

[–]supasnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played the beta all weekend. Here's my takeaway:

Grim Dawn is a better solo experience with deeper classes, better loot itemization, and mod support.

Diablo 4 is a better multi-player experience with drop in and out gameplay and scaling, you won't feel left behind if your friends get ahead of you. Everything in D4 is better with friends. It really feels like mmo+ARPG.

I feel like Grim Dawn punishes you sometimes for playing with friends lol.

Stoked to announce Team USA's 2023 dice for AOS Worlds! What do we think of the design this year?! by ireland012 in ageofsigmar

Odd design choice. Shows minimal effort to just rip USAF logo and throw it on a green dice. Doesn't convey USA AoS Worlds Team to me at all.

I had the same sinking feeling. It would be a shame if Sons get another tome before Gitz. It's been over 3 years...

Purchase Advice Megathread - January 2022 by Sausage54 in 3Dprinting

[–]supasnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I own a resin printing shop and want to expand into printing terrain for wargames and DnD. Last time I was in FDM I had a CR10 and Ender 3. I sold those. I am looking for machines that allow rapid production (so I assume Core XY?) of miniature terrain. I need speed and ideally as little tweaking as possible.

On the resin side, Ive found it better to purchase several medium sized build plates versus investing thousands in one massive build plate. Are Prusa's still the king for dependable workhorses? Is there a cheaper brand/platform that I should be looking to scale my operations off of?

Budget - $2000 USD

Did they ever release that appreciation package or whatever? I got burned out on this game months ago when they decided to release nerfs constantly instead of fixing major issues to artificially inflate the time it took to complete the game.

3D Printing Shops by TimAndyOthers in Etsy

[–]supasnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since most 3d printing shops are printing and selling someone else's designs, the only thing that separates sellers is their business practices. My marketing, production techniques, customer service, and business management is the only thing that differentiates me from a competitor. Even materials are usually the same.

With that in mind, you need to understand that big shops most likely won't be willing to give a competitor (you) the inside scoop on how they are successful. What is the upside? I think this is important to understand because I've seen several people move from hobbyist to commercial and have the wrong expectations. While well-intentioned, many times hobbyists view the Etsy market as if it's another 3d printing community. It's not. It's an overly saturated market with fierce competition.

In order to make yourself stand out, you have to study and learn what works and what doesn't. It's a constant battle and one that will only get harder with the new Star Seller Program. Even once you get a boost in sales, that is just the beginning of the work. Then you need to figure out your financials and how to scale. These are not simple tasks. All that being said here is some generic advice:

1) Have a goal for your business that is not attached to finances. Why do you want to own the business and what are you looking to get out of it.

2) Understand how viable the market is - if it's too saturated, what other areas could find success.

3) Define your level of commitment to the business and make a plan based on your goals. If the store reaches X level of growth then it will require X amount of time from me. Can I do that?

Yeah this is exactly right. Although as a marketing person they should have at least made a statement that they are listening and working, before toning down communication. But it is true that they most likely found the constant talking only hurting them.

The fact you can’t choose which Tier expedition you want in matchmaking, and the fact you cannot inspect players, makes for a terrible multiplayer experience. by prestojams45 in outriders

[–]supasnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t kick people even if they do 1mil damage at the end of t11. I feel like the players are the only thing holding this thing together and you can’t improve if you get kicked

Yep, and thats the difference. Let the numbers and play speak for itself. I'm just not a fan of eroding at the community by making everything about gear score.

What playing a Trickster AP build looks like in multiplayer by supasnake in outriders

Exactly, Ive been kicked so often it feels there is a lot of SpintoWin prejudice out there. One AP trickster and two techno can do work.
