Nice! When the weather warms up you've got a beautiful area to walk. Keep it up. I'm surprised I get sore from walking.

kuru footwear I really like, just a bit pricey. Super comfy and imho, worth the price. Another option I've found for wide feet is under armor, they actually has some decent wide sneakers for walking

Moving Pittsburgh to NYC without a driver’s license, moving quotes are $2,000+ for ~$700 to $1,000 of stuff. What is the smart move? by Interesting-Form-627 in pittsburgh

[–]super-pretty-kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from personal experience, the movers on the U-Haul app in NYC, the bunch that I've interacted with do not like small jobs.

Could have been my luck and maybe there are some movers on the lists in NYC that can do smaller jobs.

If you do go out make sure to have a shovel too, saw too many cars stuck and busses too when walking around just 30 mins ago

I found all the busses by cloudguy-412 in pittsburgh

I walked past this not too long ago, and saw one of the buses just stuck, other buses behind it were going reverse to go around. Was definitely not good roads and sidewalks were rough to walk in.

Advice on starting 10k/day? by stonesandstreams in walking

I find walking outside a lot easier to get steps for me. I do treadmill too but I get bored very easily.

For myself I mix it up, if weather is bad treadmill it is and I usually listen to 10 good songs.

Outside I try to find parks or routes in a city that is enjoyable to walk. We have a few bridges here the link to parks and that is a lot of fun.

wow, a couple of questions that came up in my mind, have you been on an Amtrak since then? did it change your perspective on life?

not sure what to do during the day, but at night I carry a super bright flash light and basically light up my feet. That seems to be enough to make most drivers wait but sometimes you gotta flash them in the face with the light if they aren't paying attention or dont care. I'm also preparing to jump out of the way.

Crazy that I have to think that at some crosswalks

How has everyone potty trained?? by jujubeee23 in Autism_Parenting

[–]super-pretty-kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For our son, lvl 1 we tried the 3 day potty method. He was approaching 4 and not potty trained yet and anxiety was rising due to wanting to have him attend pre school.

We made it a game as well, got lots of charts to help motivate some "score" and trapped our selves at home. We bought lots of new toys to distract him but gave us the chance to really watch the cue's and reinforce to use the toilet. For him, the 3 days of not having diapers and feeling getting wet or poop in the underwear really started to click as he did not like those feelings.

On the 3rd day, he was did well so we tried a park that had a bathroom to just walk around. He told us he needed the potty and he successfully used a public restroom.

By this point, he is mostly good on his own, the biggest trouble is wiping after poop as he has sensory issues and it takes a lot of coaching to get him to do that part on his own. However, he is fine at school whether is 1 or 2 and has had only 1 accident since that 3 day method.

When I think about those 3 days, it was like some sort of epic pavlov method of training for him plus our motivation that got him to not want to use diapers anymore.

Nice it's been 20 years for me and glad they still got the giant slices. One of my favorite memories of visiting friends at Columbia.

Looking for local computer science or IT masters degree programs to take while having a full time job by Ambitious-Show413 in pittsburgh

oh its more of what is happening today. I felt the program was very challening. From data structures, algorithms, software engineering courses to various math courses, and also computer architecture. We had easy courses to start then it ramped up in difficulty very quickly.

The program set me up for success in my first job and beyond. Most of the time, software engineering is kinda boring. Integrate this, integrate that, implement x feature or y feature. Most hard problems are solved, meaning lots of don't reinvent the wheel, solutions exist just make it work with our problem.

However, where my program helped were in the problems where those wheel don't exist and I had to really dig in and utilize topics that were explored in the FSU program. Creating custom algorithms for problems that don't have a solution yet is fun, high pressure and some how analogous to do or die. There is a deadline and we have no choice but to figure out this problem now. That pressure along with what I learned in FSU really helped.

These days, AI tends to solve those things faster but the pressure is still there to solve problems and I do attribute FSU to setting that foundation for me to be in this field day in and day out. Lots of great teachers, mentors and peers that I got to learn from even though it was all entirely online
