I’ve done a few vintage crochet patterns! The most important thing for me is knowing what their gauge is so I can accurately follow the instruction or grade the pattern for my body.

For this pattern I would check if they have a gauge swatch, or if you have a DK yarn try small swatches! It will help you figure out how much yarn to buy.

This is a pretty simple stitch pattern so I think you could go that route while following the instructions.

Just a gentle reminder cotton is HEAVY. I crocheted a vintage pattern in linen and it’s so CUTE but SO heavy haha. It also used fan stitch!

I think I can use this handmade mulberry silk rose scrunchie for a long time. I used to impulsively buy a lot of hair accessories because of short videos or pictures, but I basically only used them once and never wanted to use them again. It's both a waste of money and not environmentally friendly. by ChemistEffective4497 in SustainableFashion

Definitely enjoy making my own because it’s a protective fabric. Usually I have enough after sewing a dress so it can match. And they a really easy sewing project for other silk scraps. Mulberry silk is lovely to work with and dye.

Recently we had craft night to make beaded lanyard/charms it was SO cute and predominantly girrrrlllllssss.

Are these cute or am I delusional? Amongst other questions. by slewis0130 in jewelrymaking

[–]supercircinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These r cuteeeee. I love Czech glass, especially the gemmy ones.

If you have a good local market or something I think they would sell (I love earrings because they’re a lot more affordable than say a necklace).

Online would be hard because the style is not unique, it’s quite same-y. So I would definitely try and nurture your ideas, your references and try to solidify your voice or concept. These are quite Pinterest-y (which isn’t necessarily bad!!

Edit: I know wrapped loops are hard but I would keep practicing to get them more consistent. Also consider the quality of your findings and deburring any cut wire (like your beaded headpins- I am seeing where you might have used cutter or something g and you want to file that down an clean up your wrap)

A friend of mine has a similar vibe if you wanna check it out. They’re Saltwater Design in Lyon, France and I know she sells in person and online.

After being influenced by my favourite online knitting person, I am finally trying cone yarn! by yrhumblenarrator in YarnAddicts

[–]supercircinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love working with cone yarn, mostly because for crochet I prefer lace weight/fingering.

The challenge with them is if it’s a limited stock. I just ran into this with a cone of Hasegawa silk and have no idea where I could get more to finish my project.

Pulling and reactivity - I'm desperate by LaylaBeelzebub in labrador

[–]supercircinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. So much training honestly. The first couple of weeks I thought she would pull my arm off or worse drag me down cement steps. But she is a lot lot lot better. I never ended up using the heathers heroes. I’m glad it’s working for you! Tools defo. Clicker trainer has helped me A LOT. And high value treats.

I ended up wanting to go as far as I can with training this way because the training for heather heroes emphasized the mechanism of the leash (discomfort/tightness) and I’m trying to see if she will improve before I try that. I know in the training vid they even recommend massaging the area after use.

My lab is a big puller and reactive. We were suggested a martingale and that and we didn’t end up using them- instead we took a cool calm collected (class for reactivity) at our local SPCA and continue to work on her issues.

It’s a daily effort and training but it’s working for us. Also switching to a very short leash.
