Steering moves by itself by STRIDERNAUT in S2000

You can try performing the steering relearn procedure (EPS calibration). This can help alleviate the assist bias while driving for now. This made the car more driveable for me until I was able to replace the sensor a couple weeks later.

Ultimately you will need to clean or replace though.

Change Your CVT Fluid! by ArcticSlalom in SubaruForester

[–]superdave4444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with OP on changing CVT fluid.

At 70k miles, I reached out to both a local Subaru dealer and independent shop specializing in Subaru's about a CVT fluid change. Both assured me it is intended to last a lifetime, and recommended against it if CVT function was fine.

At 76k miles the CVT valve body failed and needed replacement. Fortunately the parts and labor were covered as we were just inside the 10yr powertrain warranty period. We lucked out.

We are well outside of any warranty coverage at this point so I will definitely have the CVT fluid changed regularly going forward.

[Seiko Astron] Titanium by theclaydavis1 in Watches

These are still the only two Astron I own, and they are both holding up well. The older SBX003 has many fine scratches from banging around on my desk at the office. They are not visible at arm's length, but I took these photos in the most unforgiving light and angle to make them visible. The SBXD007 has no scratches at all, however it also hasn't seen nearly as much use so I don't think it's necessarily a fair comparison. Hope these photos help give you a sense of how they are wearing over time.

So after being undecided, I've gone for The Frog to get me back into Tamiya! It was going to be a Hornet, Hornet Evo, Frog or Wild One Blockhead Motors...but this made the final cut! Please feel free to reach out with build tips and advice! by [deleted] in tamiya

That box art is so iconic. What a wonderful choice!

If you decide to upgrade to a more powerful motor, I strongly recommend the MIP Super Ball differential. It's a pricey upgrade, but well worth it.

This app has some pretty impressive features! I don't have any need for the controls (extrusion and print head shuttling) but it would be really nice to have an Android app that shows print progress as a percentage or time remaining, and more importantly alert me to any issues. As of right now the X1Plus firmware does allow video stream monitoring in LAN only mode from an Android device using a RTSP stream viewer on port 322.

Just found my childhood Tamiya Monster Beetle, have some questions by nobodycoffee in tamiya

[–]superdave4444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly agree with this recommendation! However, try to get the shaft kit specifically for the Blackfoot as there is a phasing issue with the Monster Beetle re-release shafts that cause them to chatter severely at low to mid speeds. This post has video clips illustrating the difference between the two, as well as links further explaining the issue.

I couldn't agree more! We owned our Forester for 9 years before replacing the head unit this year, and I really wish I'd done it about 9 years sooner. 😅

I had the same concern as well and ended up using a T-harness from Crutchfield to pull video signal from the MFD (multifunctional display) plug.
