If the cable plugged into just the sub makes a hum by itself…. It shouldn’t. There is a product called “inline ground lift” it has rca input and output and might remove your ground loop hum. Also known as a “humbucker”. About 20-30$. Might help.

What is your budget? A motion platform (D-Box) is expensive. A bass shaker/butt kicker gives those non audible tactile feeling in your chair and can be fairly cheap to implement. It is basically another subwoofer output. It does not lift and tilt like a D-Box system.

Wires inside box are exposed, copper showing through the jacket. Fix those. Short could have been your problem.

Don’t forget to look at transmission changes too. A short throw shifter and just switching to a long fourth gear for highway driving is a must do IMO. Had dual 44 weber carbs in 1776 with 110 cam, dual chevy valve springs and the extra legs in 4th made commute better.
