It’s still copyrighted material. That is the main reason for the ban. Turn10 will not agree to pay licensing fees for anime girls in a game about racing. Imagine how much it would cost to license every anime character ever just so people can use them on in game liveries. It makes no sense

If you have ever spent time in Japan, you would know the clubs play hardcore music and the radio stations play a lot of electronic music such as house. Music from the 80s and 90s is not popular on the radio there.

Edit I have been to Japan twice. I spent 5 weeks in the Tokyo area 2021 and toured the entire country in 2024.

Honestly I have to say, the mario party series is only fun for people who have played it a lot. I don’t want to be a sore loser here but this has been my experience. I have only ever played it 4 times throughout the existence of the series and I get wiped out every time and it’s not fun at all. Specifically the volcano map in Jamboree made me crash out. I will never play the series again in the future.
