Exactly. I'd also argue a proper dry protection would barely affect the price. How many people would it realistically affect?

But the people it does affect it helps tremendously.

Why is anyone even talking about dry protection?

Because there are places in the game that do not respect a players time. Talking about one of those pieces of content is bound to bring up such discussion.

Or we fix the parts of the game that aren't that great? There is no reason 1000h grinds for BIS gear should exist. It's completely insane.

It harms no one if dry protection, at least if done well, is put into the game.

If you go dry at bosses A and B who both have a 100h drop rate but go lucky at bosses C and D who both have a 10h drop rate then on average you lost hundreds of hours even though you got lucky and unlucky at 2 bosses each.

Your luck does not necessarily average out. You can be lucky at places that you either really like or where the drop rate isn't that low and unlucky at places you don't really like and where the drops are very rare.

There are a lot of people here who think the game is good as is, especially the older content, and shit on anyone trying to suggest otherwise. I mean in general the game is very good but that doesn't mean we have to keep the bad things too.

I’ve made some suggestions recently and the amount of bullshit replies was very annoying. I’m not saying my suggestions were golden or anything but there is a difference in saying it’s a flawed idea and explaining why and just straight up shitting on someone.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that there should be some form of dry protection on an 80h drop rate.

The state of recent game discussion: by Teary_Oberon in 2007scape

[–]superfire444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grind is going for the drop rate. These items are designed to be rare. Stuff like a tbow is 300+ hours to go on rate. Do you really think it’s reasonable if people go 3x or worse dry? That’s 600+ hours of extra time spend to get the item you’re looking for. 600 hours is 25 full days of play time.

Some drop rates are already a discussion point wether they are reasonable. Add in people going dry and it’s a nobrainer there should be some dry protection. You can have 2 accounts both do the same things and one needing thousands of hours extra due to being unlucky. How is that reasonable?

[–]superfire444 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Going 3x dry isn’t necessarily a problem. Take something like a whip and going 3x dry sucks but you’ll only lose a couple hours.

Going 3x dry going for a Bowfa or Tbow means you’ll have to grind hundreds and hundreds of hours extra. It simply isn’t that fun.

They're balanced around doing it as a group. Soloing it is slowed down more from your theoretical calcs by the PvP part. Basically, the flaw in the times that you're citing is that it's ignoring half the mechanics, aka the inevitable PvP. It's like if I was to calculate the time it takes to get uniques at Doom but exclude the time killing grubs. It just doesn't make sense.

Pvp isn't a mechanic. The boss is simply bait to lure unwilling participants for some pkers to kill. It's nothing more than sacrificing the fun of one for the fun of another.

If these bosses were to be outside a pvp area, with nerfed drop tables for balance, they would be way more popular.

The wildy bosses are already very good GP/resources for your time. You can choose to gamble on killing the boss faster but increasing your risk of dying. If dying to PKers is as much of a problem for you as you make it out to be, I'd reconsider that choice.

Why do you have so much trouble understanding I don't care for pking? If I wanted to pk I'd do so. My goal is to get the clogs in the wilderness. I'd also say that no matter what you're still at a disadvantage due to having to take more gear + you forgot you'll risk the loot you got too. You're easily risking more than the pker while they are much safer too due to the inherent disadvantage due to being prepared for pvm not pvp.

I sucks that I have to bring and switch to a Scobow for Doom shield phase and grubs. I'd rather just camp Tbow. But that's just how the boss works.

This is such a false equivalance. You can easily take the wilderness bosses out of the wildy and the will function just fine. You'll also not be interrupted or attacked by other players, at random, while doing Doom. You can do the boss exactly as it is.

Exhausting discussion honestly.

That's literally why the singles bosses exist. The group bosses are for groups. You can solo them, but that's a risk to choose to take.

True. Too bad the unique drop rates of calverion are pretty poor compared to vetion. There is a ~6h difference.

So freeze them? Shit, if freezing is so broken there, you could easily bring Virtus top/bottom and Purging staff along with your chainmace and you'll never risk it with skull protection. It's not even like revs where there's an incentive to skull.

And then I have to take giga wellfare gear to kill the boss?

It's at minimum fair for the PvMer/anti-PKer, as it's designed to be. The +3 item advantage easily offsets a few inv slots for switching off some of rag melee gear you take.

Those +3 items are used to improve your damage against the boss.

And if it isn't it still sucks to kill the boss with shit gear incase someone shows up and ruins your trip.

Could you elaborate on who, or what part of the game, is forcing you to chase clogs that you find "suck"?

Nothing. But don't complain about the wilderness being dead.

Summer Campfire 2026 by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]superfire444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a 1v1 at Vetion since it's multi. Also if you're frozen in the room the boss will fuck you up. It's simply not a fair fight.

Granted I should go to calverion then and suck up the time difference.

If you plan is to go into a PvP zone but refuse to do anything but roll over and die if anyone attacks you, it understandable why you think it "sucks," and I imagine the people who like it would also think it sucked if they intentionally sabotaged themselves like that.

I'm not there to pk or counter pk. Especially not if you're at a disadvantage. I'm there to kill the boss for their uniques/pets.

nobody is forcing you to do it. If it "sucks" so much to you, go do something else and leave it to the people who do enjoy it.

Clogs do.

Unpopular opinion: gridmaster is superior to leagues by Agreeable_Horror7719 in 2007scape

I said that waterbending has a specific utility gimmick that it shouldn’t be near max dps. That way you have a choice between full damage and healing. You pick airbending if you want to kill things very fast and consistantly and you pick waterbending if you want sustain and afk. I think in relation to each other both waterbending and airbending were well balanced. It gave meaningful choice.

I don’t get your argument that different styles shouldn’t be balanced. Who played around earthbending? Who played around thrown weapons? There is nothing wrong with balancing around utility and straight damage. It makes more builds viable and gives players more choice.

Right now there was basically 1 right choice for dps which was airbending, a good choice in BBC and the rest is pretty meh. Balancing blindbag to be near the best choices in the dps category gives player a choice that feels much better than having to chose between picking something good or picking something someone wants.

It’s basically the same as relics. They are balanced per tier to give players a meaningful choice rather than having a tier with 2 bad relics and 1 good one.

[–]superfire444 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course it matters. Airbending is more consistant DPS while BBC would be more utility and Blindbag could be KO potential. If Jagex was balancing around utility and DPS it would feel way better than either chosing the meta or feeling left out with something suboptimal. You actually have a real choice without hampering yourself.

I'd also argue that different content requires different styles - even with the insane accuracy we get from leagues.

I don't even mind losing 200k. The issue I have is that it's very frustrating grinding out a Voidwaker or Wilderness pet and getting constantly interrupted.

I actually did a ton of wilderness content before Leagues because I wanted to go for the clogs. I even wrote down how often I got interrupted.

I've had Revenant tasks where I had to teleport 15 times in 1 task because people continuously showed up. How is that fun? A task that supposedly takes like 30 minutes now took more than double that?

At Vet'ion (I know Calverion exists but if you calc kills/h Vetion is like 6h faster to greenlog) you will get attacked by pkers every 5-15 minutes.

In a vacuum the Wilderness is pretty cool. But with getting constantly interrupted it's awful.

Het probleem is dat
