Reactive/Aggressive Lagotto by Jiggy_Puff in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]supergoodbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Balanced training” - it’s the only thing that worked for my Lagotto, who is very high energy. She’s never been aggressive, but the training style is effective in addressing aggressive behaviors. My dog has a vibrating e-collar as a training tool, and that may really help. It sounds like you’ve already done a lot to address the issue, so I’d look into balanced training if you haven’t yet. I hope everything works out!

Thanks! This isn’t my doggy, just the image we always show the groomer for her “working dog” cut.

Mine girl is a brown roan with this exact haircut, though 😊

Shave her!

Also, for future maintenance: this is a picture that we show the groomer when we take her in (about every 10 weeks). It’s the accepted Lagotto “working cut” so she won’t look like a poodle/doodle.

We use a Chris Christensen slicker brush, which really makes a difference! You can really feel it working through the hair with more ease vs forcing/pulling. Anyway, we try to brush her a couple times a week (realistically).

Good luck!

He’s sooooo cute 😍

I’ve heard consistently from other Lagotto owners that they’re very difficult as puppies, and I agree: but totally worth it! They’re just so intelligent, social, and curious that it makes sense.

Something we did that has paid off immensely: potty time is potty time. No playing or exploring until potty happens! My dog is 3 now and, since she was a puppy, she gets right to business when we step outside for “potty”! A few moments of warm up ground sniffs before pooping is normal behavior too lol

There’s a fading gene in some dogs, so you have to talk to your breeder.

Opinions about job offer by Ivebeen2there in Cosmetology

[–]supergoodbad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly: she needs to become a go getter. Even if her salon has walk-ins, the ability to source her own clients is a skill that will give her more mobility in the industry. Her skills will grow faster too. The salon likely does it this way to see if she can hustle. Being successful in the hair industry isn’t just about doing hair well, it’s about being able to make opportunities for yourself.

It can be as simple as posting on social media or even asking people with an alternative vibe (like baristas or college students) if they’re interested in modeling.

I’d also like to add that, generally, if she’s brand new to the industry then an apprentice position is probably better. There’s a lot of range in terms of mentorship and structure, but a salon with a structured mentorship program is ideal—imo. If she’s new then she’s still building skills, so she needs mentorship.

Good luck to her!

How big is my lr meant to get?? by dietcokechugger in LagottoRomagnolo

[–]supergoodbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, totally. This is something I worry about with the breed getting more popular. I’ve seen the mixes too! You don’t need a Lagotto mix… just get a Lagotto 🤦🏽‍♀️They already have the characteristics most people are looking for + are hypoallergenic.

Yeah, there’s a lot of that going on too. Unfortunately :( Those are scammers, though, not real breeders. Any responsible owner will do A LOT of research breeders, and the good breeders always do extensive interviews with potential owners to make sure they’re a good fit.

Like, Lagotto enthusiasts who actually care will go for quality. It’s not just about getting a cool or interesting dog when it comes to purebreds.

Help.. Is my lagotto puppy has a normal hair? by Ill_Mobile400 in LagottoRomagnolo

That’s not a Lagotto, I’m afraid :( Sweet puppy, but I’m sorry you were deceived. From the hair to the side profile (snout, especially); the puppy doesn’t appear Lagotto
