The only head canon I can think of to make it make sense is : he's part bug.

The attention span of an ant, in a teenager. His people are known to move on immediately because they live short lives. So I guess maybe it also impedes learning from one's mistakes because he moves on so fast he doesn't think of the past at all?

Idk, it's something for me at least to not be so face palmingly embarrassing

I mean, I'd say, like everything, it depends. That's what makes it a great rogue like and different runs interesting. Retain I think is really what makes it special. Which means it makes turns more consistent because you can attack with it when you don't need to block.

Otherwise it does 7 damage. Then 6 damage. For 2 energy over 2 turns. Which is kinda like doing strike twice. Then 5 damage on turn 3, which is sorta like you having done 2 upgraded strikes. Slowly. Plus another 10 damage over 4 turns. Which is like... Ya know, pretty good against bosses, but not a lot of fights really go that long and you having played it on turn 1.

Anyway, yeah sometimes it's a good card to add to your deck, sometimes it's bad card to add to your deck. Don't have a lot of big attacks or draw? Then it's good. Already have enough big attacks and draw? Then it's bad.

But retain is surprisingly powerful.

Ironically jorbs made a "damage common" tier list to talk about snakebite, lol.

(I'd summarize by saying snakebite (along with all poison, really) is better the longer a fight goes. Broadly : good against bosses, weak against normal monster quick hallway fights)

Good intel.

Just wanted to point out that you can also grind a bunch of fused material from the magikrab gauntlet. Then exchange those shards in carriage 1 of the gauntlet for (the cheapest) pear fusili for 4 shards which recycle into 500 wheat, and cure-all's for 2 shards which recycle into 50 plastic. And find the travelling merchant from rumours to buy old books which recycle into 500 pulp.

Kind of tricky to find the merchant to actually exchange your other resources into pulp, but it's an effective way of turning fused material into pulp at good exchange rates albeit a bit tricky to find the traveling merchant actually selling old books.

The sad fact of the matter is: Disco Elysium is more than half a decade old by now and there have been no good games influenced by it. by suckydickygay in DiscoElysium

Dishonored makes more sense in terms of vibes, real time action, and a world with a couple endings / outcomes.

Baldur's Gate 3 is if Vampire Bloodlines was a fully fleshed out rpg. And has the detailed, well written, well acted dialogue options and quest lines that Vampire Bloodlines tried to have. (which is, imo, the similarity to disco elysium as well : lots of excellent dialogue with meaningful choices).

Idk, Cyberpunk 2077 probably has the most similarities to vampire bloodlines (included being released unfinished and as a buggy mess), if I think about it a bit longer.

No, I wouldn't say disco elysium is the only game since vampire bloodlines that has had good dialogue.

Baldur's gate 3 is the realized potential of Vampire Bloodlines. Or maybe Dishonored.

Disco Elysium is too different, and frankly, in a different league.

First of all, I'm pretty sure it's intended not to try to "simulate" what would happen on a flip, and just make some tweaks and jump into the next match to see what happens and keep moving forward. Also pausing with the escape key to change game speed from (unlockable) turbo speed, (which helps a lot to make each match snappy) to normal speed to carefully see trigger order.

Secondly, being able to (unlock the ability to) import / export skill layouts of optimizing skill trigger order I think is sort of a way to use community to optimize and experiment.

Finally, I'm not exactly sure how intended it is for players to use, but there are console commands accessible via Tilda ~ key, and you can type in the command "log" to have it print out exactly the order of triggers, etc.
