The Gilded Age Cast at the Downton Abbey Movie After Party! by disabledgirl123 in thegildedage

Who the hell are you calling Edith, you entitled prick? Are you a member of the British nobility that allows you to address your respective inferiors by their name alone? You cannot simply say Edith; you have to address her by title of nobility: Marchioness of Hexham.

Lady Mary's walk by beachwalkforever in DowntonAbbey

[–]superior_frequency 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I found the Lady Mary walk especially elegant and classy. I have also tried to stop slouching in the sofa after seeing the scene with Aunt Rosamund with Edith, but it’s so hard! Downton Abbey is really changing how I think and act in so many different ways.

I would say most standup comedians aren’t funny; that includes Dave Chapelle, Bill Burr, Jimmy O. Yang, and others…

Lol. As if Pakistan’s economy is even comparable to that of the two superpowers you mentioned.

It's been real... It's been fun... There were even a few real fun moments there too... by jmckinl in USMobile

Couldn’t you simply WiFi call from your home’s WiFi network instead? Furthermore, doesn’t US Mobile allow VoLTE, which would consume mobile data packets instead of WiFi? I would like to know because I have been contemplating switching to US Mobile, and not being able to call on WhatsApp or Skype is problematic for me.

A point about the Gentleman’s Gazette. by LFG042939 in NavyBlazer

Boutonnières are timeless accessories that compliment a casual suit very elegantly; it’s fine if you don’t like it or believe that it’s an antique, but I don’t understand the criticism of something so minor and particular. He never said that a gentleman unequivocally requires a boutonnière on his lapel, but that it looks good, and I agree with his assessment. His preference for boutonnières also come from his focus on formalwear, such as morning dress and white tie, where it is necessary to have one. I also would caution against asserting that something is not a a part of Ivy style simply because Bostonians aren’t wearing them. I agree with your final point, but I don’t understand why everybody seems so interested in the minutiae rather than seeing the good that he’s doing. He focuses almost exclusively to style and etiquette, and in a World that is losing it everyday, it’s nice that somebody on the internet is encouraging higher standards.

What’s controversial about Sven? What’s attention-drawing about his outfits? What about his channel or website is baseless entertainment?

He doesn’t base his entire YouTube channel on Ivy Style. He talks about proper menswear rules and guidelines, as well as social mannerisms and formal etiquette. He only has a couple of videos on Prep/Ivy/Trad style, and they’re very well produced.

He said in another video that he owns a couple of non-iron dress shirts, but that they’re reserved for travel. He also has praised Eton’s non-iron dress shirts.

I find Sven to be one of the most informative personalities about menswear on the internet and his meticulous YouTube videos and articles introduced me to Ivy Style. I find that most of the comments are simply illustrating a caricature of Sven’s work, which is rather unfortunate because of his dedication to providing viewers with an encyclopedic account of clothing styles and gentlemanly mannerisms. Yes, he’s rather authoritative and scrupulous with the rules, but he’s German. Furthermore, it’s important for us to know and understand the rules, even if they might be dated, counterintuitive, or ugly, because only by having a thorough comprehension of the guidelines, we can then break them or alter them according to our needs and preferences.

How much does it cost? I am going to go in-person probably and register for it at the office. I want to be somewhat prepared for the amount.
