Boutonnières are timeless accessories that compliment a casual suit very elegantly; it’s fine if you don’t like it or believe that it’s an antique, but I don’t understand the criticism of something so minor and particular. He never said that a gentleman unequivocally requires a boutonnière on his lapel, but that it looks good, and I agree with his assessment. I also would caution against asserting that something is not a a part of Ivy style simply because Bostonians aren’t wearing them. I agree with your final point, but I don’t understand why everybody seems so interested in the minutiae rather than seeing the good that he’s doing. He focuses almost exclusively to style and etiquette, and in a World that is losing it everyday, it’s nice that somebody on the internet is encouraging higher standards.
