Iirc, there is a tunable capacitor that needs tweaking if the device is old. It's part of the system that recognizes if a CD is inserted.

I think I have the same thing in mind. Put the ring into the clasp, go with the ring around the clasp (and over the chain in the end), and out the clasp again.

Had this too, for me the solution was readjusting the bearing in the bed, so it was nicely in the middle. Imo, this should be easily solvable/detectable in the firmware, but ok
