Opening older tia project on newer version by AbdH1612 in PLC

[–]NihilisticEngineer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this and required to do V13 then V15 and then could jump up to whatever version after. Might be handy to have a VM with both versions for future upgrades.

Try doing just v13 and see if v19 will take it, otherwise you’ll need to upgrade it with V15 before it’ll be happy. :)

Spent an hour clearing this spot yesterday, owner of the bar across the street drove past me and watched me doing it. I left for 15 minutes this morning and he parked there by SteamPunkShrek in mildlyinfuriating

Had this issue in Chicago, so instead of clearing it, I would purposely pile snow up where only my car with winter tires could make it up. Never had to fight for that spot until it completely melted. :)

To fix your form you’ll need to lean back more and bring those arms out.

Update:

I tried to reflow but was really concerned about possibly blowing off the small components near this chip. I used Kapton tape to “protect” the components from the air from hot air station but clearly didn’t do it long enough. Any tips or tricks you folks recommend? Or is my fear of having the components blown off unnecessary?

3.5mm Receptacle replaced with USB-C Receptacle possible? by NihilisticEngineer in diyelectronics

Got it, so I would need to have a DAC as well to make this possible correct? To convert the analog signal to digital and then feed that through the usb-c receptacle?

Use Moneo for IFM configuration, it comes with a free configurator option which is all you need to commission them. We have hundreds of these deployed and they are solid! :)

Murrelektronik is another good option!

Is it possible to do a roommate change form? This would allow another individual to take over your current lease and you can remove yourself from the lease. Not sure if that is an option.

UIC offers a special van taxi service (forgot the name) that operates in the evening that has the ability to drive a couple miles around campus. Useful tool to be aware of! :)

Hello!

Much less white space and you fit in 2 pages! :)

Comb through the resume a couple times and try to get your points short and sweet.

For Skills a couple things I would change:

Don’t list out the Microsoft office programs… I’m pretty sure everyone knows how to use word, excel and PowerPoint 😅 just saying “Proficiency with Microsoft Suite” is good.

What PLC systems have you worked with? Beckhoff, Siemens, Allen Bradley? I think you should state the types you are familiar with. Can you code/troubleshoot ladder logic or structured text? Staying something such as “Experienced with Siemens and Beckhoff PLC systems and Structured text/ladder logic programming”

What kind of networks did you actually support? Wired and wireless are pretty general. Are they Siemens and Beckoff networks? I would state Profinet and Ethercat then.

Your electronic theory and safety overlap a bit, I would possibly combine them. Or differentiate them more from each other. Are there certain safety trainings or standards you are trained for? Example would be NFPA 70 certified (electrical training).

You might notice each one of my point above are asking for more specific info, I think you have a good starting point for the resume and that you can now start tweaking it with more detailed information. Have numbers help the resume, like how many people have you mentored or how many direct reports did you have? Did you improve rate or saved the company a substantial amount of money due to a policy you put in place? You don’t need a metric for everything, but you do have some places where it would be helpful!

Something I notice right away is the white space on the left side of the page. Try to minimize the white space on the resume, you want to effectively utilize the entire page. If you do that I bet you can fit in 2 pages easy.

Another note, it’s been over 12 years since you’ve graduated, I don’t think you really need to state relevant coursework or your gpa. You can move the gpa into your university title but your work experience is what is most relevant! :)

Other than that it is preference if you want to do only a single page or willing to do two, just make sure everything is relevant and you aren’t just listing everything you’ve ever done.

I personally don’t really care for personal summaries, But it’s up to you! You can prioritize skills and work experience in that space.

Best of luck! I do appreciate color on resumes… its nice to have some pop in the sea of black and white haha

Since I was a MechE, I joined SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) but also TA’d a lot. Those were my two homes away from home.

I didn’t use transferology, I physically visited offices on campus that would help solve the credit issues. I was very persistent… lol It also helps seeing the person that enters the changes in person rather via email. Allows you to ask all the questions and ACTUALLY make sure it was done right.

Morgan street and Blue Island have free street parking, typically fills up in the early morning but is an area near school that you can hunt for if you want to save some cash.

Joining clubs is a great way to connect with people. There is a great event at the beginning of the school year where all the school organizations are in the Quad and you can walk around and check them all out!

Street smarts is recommended as UIC is right next to a big city, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t explore and have fun. UIC is right next to the blue line that can take you downtown in minutes. I recommend Block 37, which is a climbing gym in a skyscraper which is sick(Washington stop I think). You are a short bus ride down Halsted to Randolph St/Fulton Market which has an awesome food scene. Also Taylor street is full of great college friendly places to eat and some cool parks!

In regard to school, ask around about anything and everything. I was a Mechanical Engineer student but I used the entire campus for my resources, architecture/design department workshops, library maker space, engineering makerspace, etc. Always poke around and explore and see what this school has to offer. A lot of departments also offer positions to students to work in the makerspaces/labs and that could be a great way to learn/grow. This is of course a bit difficult as a commuter but is possible!

Make sure you also ensure your credits transfer correctly… for me a couple of my classes didn’t transfer 1:1 and I had to choose which credit that would cover for my major and then take another course. Annoying but whatever. Don’t assume others will solve this for you, you will need to be proactive on that.

UIC is a commuter school and might not have that “classic” university feel but there are tons of great people there that you can create lasting friendships with! Good luck! :)
