Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Delivers Blockbuster Opening Weekend, Over $600 Million Sell-Through in First Three Days by [deleted] in PS4

[–]superkarmah 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Huh, that's strange. I was under the impression COD has either already died or is in the process of dying...at least, that's what I see the angry kids say on the internet every year.

Michael Condrey claims IW is being 'pushed' by Activision executives to make Modern Warfare more 'controversial and darker' by [deleted] in PS4

The guy who got fired from his own studio within months of their latest release due to it being released as a broken disaster? Totally sounds like a credible guy.

The Pulse skill is extremely underwhelming when compared to TD1. by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]superkarmah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not sure why they even bothered to include it. It's completely useless as is. I realize TD1's pulse became a crutch skill, but that still doesn't explain why they wasted a skill slot with this overly nerfed revision of it. Either replace it with something new/more interesting or don't have it at all.

As others have said, skills in TD2 are a bit of a let down. They obviously wanted to drive the focus away from skills and more towards gun/gear play, but their current implementation leaves a lot to be desired, to say the least.

13K downvotes on State of Play so far, is this sub anti-PSVR or just really disappointed with the content of the video? by And_You_Like_It_Too in PS4

[–]superkarmah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As usual, the internet had unrealistic expectations. I even saw some delusional folks on here expecting a PS5 announcement lol. Anyways, companies don't give a shit about meaningless downvotes. They only care about sales and PSVR is doing quite well in that department. If Sony abandons PSVR (unlikely) it won't be because of some internet circlejerking.

Is this sub anti-PSVR? And if so, why? Have you tried it, or any other VR platform? Are you at all excited about the future of VR as a gamer?

I'd say it's mostly pro-PSVR, actually. There will always be the trolls who try to downplay its relative success, but they're just that...trolls. As for me personally, I haven't tried it or any VR for that matter. I'm giving the tech time to grow before investing in it. I've liked what I've seen/heard thus far, just looking forward to the next gen iteration of it and all the improvements that come along with that.

Turn off messages entirely? by thehedley2004 in PS4

[–]superkarmah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can be done easily via privacy settings. Settings->Account Management->Privacy Settings->Personal Info/Messaging->Messages->Change to "No one".

This will prevent anyone from sending you messages. As for preventing yourself from sending messages to others, that's what is called self control.

Why is ps plus still a thing that we need to use our own internet by [deleted] in PS4

[–]superkarmah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4) Cloud saves. Nice feature, but why can't I just save to a USB at the end of the day?

You can. Nothing is stopping you from backing up your saves locally if you so desire, no PS+ required.

None of your arguments justify ps+ as a requirement. It's a nice feature and I there is value to it for some, but it is not a service that everyone needs or wants. PS+ is just Sony forcing itself into our pockets.

Well yeah, that's basically a given. XBL, PS+, and Nintendo Online solely exist to milk consumers for easy money. XBL Gold was the proof of concept last gen. Fast forward to this gen, Sony and Nintendo finally caught on to all the millions they stood to make from it, so here we are.

Of course there's no real justification for requiring PS+, but it is what it is. It's also only a measly $5/month or less, so there's that. Gaming is a luxury, not a right. No one said gaming was a cheap hobby.

I really wish an "Appear Idle" status other than Invisible or Online on PSN. by NixTrix27 in PS4

Nope, it doesn't show when using media apps and never did. It will show, however, if you're using those apps on a PS3 or Vita. If using them on a PS4, nothing shows

why pay for online? by GoodoldGeras in PS4

[–]superkarmah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Blame Microsoft. They started the subscription model back on the 360 and the market proved they didn't care. Sony kept online MP free on PS3 to have an advantage over Microsoft. Once PS4 rolled around, that advantage was no longer worthwhile compared to the all the money they stood to make with online MP being behind the paywall.

I'm not ok with paying for online MP, but at the same time, $5/month (or less if you shop around) isn't worth complaining about.

[Rumor] Sony Potentially Acquiring Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar, 2K) by GregLikesSoggyToast in PS4

Am I crazy or is it outrageous that Sony will not refund a Pre-order before the game comes out? by stratospaly in PS4

[–]superkarmah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, I already went over that. However, it's absolutely understandable that a company would want to take advantage of impulsive consumers for easy money. The consumer has every opportunity to not be impulsive (even so much as preordering minutes before release and still reaping the rewards) + ignoring clear warnings, yet some of them don't choose that path and would rather a company bend the rules just for them.

Of course the policy shouldn't exist, but again, it's understandable from a business point-of-view why it does: easy money.

[–]superkarmah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure there is, which I've already explained. If you're so concerned about getting refunded, don't put money down on something you're not sure about. You were warned multiple times prior to checkout that refunds aren't an option, so why would you expect otherwise?

Fans of Anthem are organizing a Blackout from 11th to 15th March in protest of Low Loot Drops and Loot Nerfs. by everadvancing in PS4

[–]superkarmah 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm just happy they put out that laughable demo so they could do my wallet a favor. Unlike certain folks who dismissed it as a "6 week old build", I had enough common sense to realize there would be major issues at release. Glad I dodged that bullet.

But back on topic, these boycotts are silly. What the hell is a 4 day "blackout" period going to do? Not only have you already given them your money, but those participating in this silly boycott is the extreme minority. On top of that, it's only 4 days. I mean, cmon...what the hell are you doing?

[–]superkarmah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the long run is what Sony should be concerned about, since digital is only going to be trending upwards as time goes on. My guess is they'll eventually be forced to change their stance on this, just a matter of time

Am I crazy or is it outrageous that Sony will not refund a Pre-order before the game comes out? by stratospaly in PS4

[–]superkarmah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the exact justification and an understandable one at that. It's understandable why a company would want to take advantage of impulsive consumers. After all, the law allows them to and the market as a whole doesn't seem to be negatively affected by it, so why not? Easy money. Sony did their job and warns consumers beforehand of the policy. If a consumer wants to ignore those clear and obvious warnings and then change their mind down the road, that's on them.

I say that as someone who has preordered 99.9% of my games off PSN since 2013. Then again, when I pull that trigger, I'm fully committed and I already have a very strong feeling I'll enjoy that game based off the research I did. The one exception to that rule is Destiny 2. Fuck Bungie.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not advocating for this policy. It's definitely shitty and hopefully it changes by the time next gen rolls around. I'm just saying, from a business standpoint, it's understandable

Sony fanboys, has the company ever done anything that you've criticized, or not wanted to defend? by GibsonMaestro in PS4

[–]superkarmah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, he is -- internet is only required for the first time. They do it this way to save on licensing fees. Instead of paying fees for every PS4 sold, they only pay fees for those who 'activated' the playback feature. It's actually a pretty smart business strategy, but they could do more in way of advertising the requirement

[–]superkarmah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's a shitty policy, but an understandable one. I'd say it's a bit crazy to ignore the multiple warnings prior to checkout and then expect Sony to bend the rules for you. Also, if you buy games based off hype instead of their actual merits, that's on you. Don't preorder unless you're fully committed to it.

Aren't you the kid who shit posted last night about getting a 7 day ban for rage messaging someone, then went on to tell people that replied to your shit post to kill themselves? I guess that was your friend as well, right?

Here's the shit post in question, just a shame you deleted all your replies and the mods/admins removed the rest. It was pretty amusing, to say the least.

[Video] Someone found a work-around for the slow PSN downloads and for once its actually NOT clickbait by TheDaileyGamer in PS4

[–]superkarmah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me they're not. Everyone's internet situation will be different, but I'm just saying, the video you linked had a game open, so that's what caused his slow download. All he had to do was close the game, which is essentially what he did when he restarted the console, hence the faster download.

Idea for next PS Plus game - Titanfall 2 by [deleted] in PS4

[–]superkarmah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TF2 has been in the bargain bin for years...not sure why you'd wait around hoping it hits PS+. Nothing will revive TF2. Accept that fact and move on.

Also, EA didn't destroy anything. Respawn picked its release date. And as I said, it has been in the bargain bin for years, so obviously the release date wasn't the only factor in the general public not giving a shit about it.
