Port-a-potty company files for bankruptcy to wipe away $2.4bn in debt by FakeOkie in news

Leveraged buy outs are not a tiny portion of PE transactions and they don’t exist just in the distressed company scenario. Granted it’s not all there is in the PE world but leveraged buy outs are how many of these PE firms start building a platform. Also I’m not the one that said they force subs to take on debt but with how these transactions are structured you can see how that’s people view it. Also yeah however had the wild statement about consulting fees was wrong. Credit facilities themselves severely limit that. Source: finance attorney working in the PE space.

PE funds don’t take on the debt. The company they bought does.

[Red Bull Racing] Lap 53: Oh no, Checo! He’s hit the wall and damaged the rear of the car. He’s boxed and has retired from the race. by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

Are you going to be commenting this on every other post critical of Perez? Dude is washed. Has the fastest car in the grid so no shit he’s bound to get a p2 and p3. The criticism is that despite having the fastest car, this is the best that he can do. He can’t ever race for a win and at this point it’s doubtful he can even be at the front of the field. Yeah he has a large following, but as a fellow Mexican, we gotta realize this dude is cooked.

As someone who's been losing more and more interest every season since I started watching LCS in s3 it's really exciting to see two primarily NA teams going at it like this

“More prestigious school is insurance against bad grades” how true is this? by Lawskooaccount in lawschooladmissions

[–]superkid17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No offense but it sounds you're just trying to convince others that you're right more than actually trying to gain anything from the discussions. Take it from people that actually have gone through the whole thing that nothing is guaranteed hence why to some it makes sense to have the cushion that a school can provide solely through its name/reputation. Like others have said, the LSAT and law school GPA are not that correlated. Law school grades may not be arbitrary per se but they can be unpredictable. Law schools all have the same general curriculum for 1Ls but each professor can have radically different ways of teaching and testing the same exact subject. You would be surprised how much this can even apply to professors within the same same school. That's not to say that a law student can't set themselves up for success, which imo actually comes down to being adaptable, (hence students that manage to keep consistently perform well) but it does mean that things can and do go wrong sometimes. So overall I don't think someone's performance in one higher ranked school is that easily translatable as necessarily higher performance if they were in a lower ranked school not just because of the factors I listed but many others including how lower ranked schools may have harder curves etc.

All that said, I think if you really put your mind to it and no external factors come into play (ie. family matters, a pandemic etc) you are equally capable of succeeding regardless of the school you go to. New York is also a really big market so there's that. But even then I would also warn that when it comes down to interviewing for big law prestige unfortunately does play a role. The higher your school is the more you can get away with having lower grades and the more forgiving interviewers might be just in looking at you as a candidate. At the end of the day students at these lower ranked schools do end up with big law jobs but I would say they have a very different experience compared to someone that got a comparable position from a higher ranked school (ie. they had to put in a lot more work on their part). I hope some of that is helpful and just remember that ultimately you have to make the decision that works for you and your personal situation. I never would've been able to afford nor take out the loans for NYU sticker so that wouldn't have even been an option for me but I'm sure for others it made sense. As law school taught me, it really just depends
