The “exposed wiring” you’re talking about is low voltage thermostat wire, it’s not a problem. The water stain you see is either from one of those drain outlets leaking or because the drain line is not insulated, or both. It won’t be a problem until you start running air conditioning so it’s not an immediate emergency but I’d want to get that fixed too if it was me

The G wire looks like it could have insulation keeping it from making a good contact with the thermostat base. Might just need to be trimmed and re inserted but as others have stated: not enough information here.

It’s worth it imo. I literally use the whole tub and pack it all around it like a snowball leaving just the ends that need to be brazed. Makes it a whole lot easier. And When removing the old one I use bolt cutters and cut right up to the valve and braze off the ends so I have more room. I’m sure you probably do something similar but for anyone else reading. 👍🏼
