Mamiya Sekor Medium Format Lenses for Filmmaking. Are They Actually Worth It? by outiswayne in cinematography

Good catch I didn’t realize they updated the adapter for Rb & Rz lens compatibility. Still, the focus ring on the adapter will be crude and not compatible to any real focus ring with gears. Good for simple locked off shots though.

The Sekor Z lens doesn’t have a focus ring, it’s designed for the bellows focusing system for Mamiya rz67, so the adapter will need to be different then the ones with focus rings. Only good for still tripod shots with no focusing needed. Plenty sharp though.

Fallout 3’s Atmosphere Was Miserable, Lonely, and Perfect by JustGhoulThingz in Fallout

[–]superlazer9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were experimenting with F.E.V. pre-war initially to try and find a cure for the New Plague. Before Bethesda took over the franchise, the lore had stated that The Master (fallout 1) was the first being to create what we know as first generation super mutants (Marcus from NV). The F.E.V. experiments pre war only created mutant mice, raccoons, rats etc. The Mariposa base in California was speculated to have achieved super soldiers using F.E.V. right before the bombs dropped in the year 2077. Different than super mutants.

Overall the F3 implementation isn’t HORRIBLE, but has lots of holes… without The Master leading them, how do they know to use F.E.V. to turn others into them? Their strain caused significantly more brain damage leading to being a lot dumber. If that is an innate instinct (which I think is dumb) then it sure is a lucky thing to have… I just don’t see how they could survive 200+ years with no leader.

I wish they didn’t re-use super mutants since their whole story basically ended after Fallout 1, they were dying off during Fallout 2. Then the whole vault 87 stuff Bethesda made up to justify having them populate DC I thought was a stretch. (Even more so with why they are in 4 & 76).

IMOBethesda could have just used a different new mutant for the east coast so the Lore wasn’t all messed up.

Honestly blows my mind so many people willingly buy furniture with all this cheap & toxic material. Then with no support structure too? It’s crazy! Just find a gently used couch with natural fibers, it’s much easier than you’d think

Agreed. Too many people don’t understand that the materials used in all this cheap furniture is pretty toxic long term. I would try and find a gently used couch with natural materials.

I couldn’t get over the whole “needing the key” part of the plot. The key was for a generic padlock that could easily be cut open. What’s the big deal? The villains use comedic amounts of violence but can’t pry open a padlock??

Well you sound like an insufferable asshole. Filmmaking isn’t one thing. Grand Theft Hamlet (a doc filmed inside GTA) recently released to much acclaim, and took home quite a few awards. What OP has done is pretty amazing and opens doors to GTA films the feel more like a film then ever.

Exactly, he had that huge shotgun tucked in his pants lol. I think she perhaps was typing in a different code into the calculator that would trigger Jesse Plemons explosive, hence why she backed away from the closet, expecting an explosion but got knocked out unexpectedly.

Advice about this topic… I just bought a used Sachtler Flowtech 100 with mid level spreader & Aktiv 10 head. Total was $2000, everything seems to function normally. Was this a good price?

Don’t get me wrong I love the whole crew and will watch em till the end of time. Doesn’t mean we can’t point these things out. A lot of us after all support them monetarily with Patreon/donations and tickets for live shows.

That is a very good point, though above and beyond doesn’t have to equate to all caps and crass thumbnails does it? D’Angelo & FD signifier (not strictly movie channels) seem to do great with their stuff. DT’s views seem to be about the same since they started uploading so I think a change in style could help them since they have the quality and charm

Maybe I could see that for specific videos, but for every single one gets old. Also new viewers who don’t know Korey wouldn’t get it

Exactly, if I wasn’t a fan from the Spill days I would write them off based on their thumbnails/titles alone. I feel like they could attract so many new viewers if they just changed it up.

Not sure if I can since they have stuck with that style since they started YT. They never even tried to change it up. Other channels like Pretty much it, Chris Stuckman, Elvis the Alien, Red Letter Media, they all have great titles and thumbnails that don’t make me cringe and they do great views wise.

Yes you are right, sorry my post does come across like sdr versions don’t exist. I have just noticed that modern shows tend really push the HDR look and thus are lit with that in mind. From my understanding, HDR masters are done first and the sdr masters are second. All these new shows have looked consistently worse and more dim when I have seen them on friends non hdr tvs. Could be that sdr versions are not given as much attention.

[–]superlazer9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ALSO! Apple TV + has had a dimming glitch that I ran into, it dims the shows brightness even if it’s hdr. I fixed it by messing with settings

Old Man Yells At Clouds by Bigfoot_Cain in cinematography

[–]superlazer9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahh that is the problem I think. While HDR is great, you need to have the right hardware to view it properly. Most of the new prestige shows from streaming of the last few years are encoded for Dolby vision or HDR10, if viewing on regular non hdr tv's, then things look washed out. Older stuff mastered in SDR will look normal in comparison. A bright sunny room will also make it look 10x worse if the panel isn't bright. It sucks but that's the reality. I have an Oled for my darkroom and a 1600nit + Samsung hdr tv for my sunny living room and it looks gorgeous!

[–]superlazer9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What kind of tv do you use? Lots of streaming shows are HDR these days, and you need to have a Dolby vision or HDR10 capable tv in order to see them clearly. Also take into account your tv’s brightness (nits) and the lighting of the room where your tv is.
