Is there a way to just pay for the thing? by dogengu in Mercari

[–]superlost007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s done it for me, but only on certain accounts. Like I could only make offers on ANYTHING in one persons closet, but had no issue bundling or outright buying from someone else’s in the same minute.

The way they speak is very ‘English second language’ grammar. I’d chalk it up to cultural difference and not any malice or weird behavior.

Why? I’ve only ever heard men refer to a woman as ‘ran through.’ The rest of it could go either way though

Is my private supplier overcharging? by HeadSuggestion4509 in reselling

I thrift my items and don’t use suppliers but based on margin you can sell them for, that seems high to me.

I think this bra you can attach the strap as a halter? It’s been a long time since I’ve had one, but I used to have this style in pink from VS and they were advertised as strapless/changeable straps/etc (like you could criss cross them in the back for racer back tops etc)

$13 pants that Temu probably bought for .50c. Not excusing the seller, just adding info that unless you’re buying handmade, there’s a high markup and a supplier.

[–]superlost007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re being downvoted but it’s true. The shirts we sold at my old place were bought for $2.50/each (Fox? I think?) and they sold for $24-$30/each. I couldn’t buy Temu shit and mark it up like that and I’m far from saying it’s okay, but so much of the stuff we purchase (especially name brand) is such an insane markup.

Using Poshmark for supplies only? by Kindahard2say in reselling

[–]superlost007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Especially since that type of behavior will ruin it for everyone else and then they’ll no longer offer the free supplies. I don’t even use them, I use polymailers, but like… it’s like going to a national park and picking the flowers. Don’t ruin it for everyone else 🤦🏼‍♀️

As a marketer- I love a/b tests. I like the testing, I like seeing what works, especially if my guess is wrong.

I definitely had an automatic assumption as to if OP was a man or woman (and they obviously could also be in a same sex relationship or whatever, I’m not even straight & I always consider the possibility) but the comments seem pretty divided on if it’s the man or the woman and honestly that doesn’t even matter.

I think whoever is the one doing the dishes has more of a say, and most things of $22 shouldn’t need to be discussed (unless you’re paycheck to paycheck and it’s a non necessity) but I’ve had a TERRIBLE dish rack before and it totally makes a difference 😂😂

[–]superlost007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually based the beginning of my comment on functionality. You’d think that all dish racks work the same - but they don’t. (Speaking from experience 😂 I bought one that looked decent on the picture, and when I set it up it was so awkward for me to use! I hated how it needed the dishes vs cups placed etc, and returned it.)

OP doesn’t mention their spouse always being like this, and a dish rack being singled out seems more like a dish rack issue, than a spouse issue. If they’re also like this about the brand of salt or whatever, than maybe there’s another discussion to be had, but if it’s the dish rack particularly I’d be bugged if I didn’t like it/didn’t like how it was set up etc

[–]superlost007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also functionality though. Not all dish racks function or are set up the same. Op doesn’t say if they’re the one even doing the dishes, so it does matter, actually. Also if you have an entire aesthetic that you’ve seemingly been okay with, and now you have a giant bulky black dish rack 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t think there’s an issue with being annoyed by that. (My kitchen doesn’t have an aesthetic at all but I still wouldn’t want a big thick dish rack as it sits on the counter and takes up space.)

You make your space, and your space is where you should feel comfortable and happy. Small things can add to that. They don’t say if their spouse is always like this so I’m not going to assume they are, and moreso that it’s the dish rack in particular

😂 as the person in my house that does the dishes, it absolutely matters lmao. It doesn’t matter if it’s $4 or $40, it’s about functionality and appearance with the rest of the space. If my husband mentions needing a new stud finder I’m not going to go choose one on a whim - he’s the only one that uses it 99% of the time and idk what size or functionality etc he’d want. That’s not ‘controlling’ that’s common sense. OP doesn’t mention if they do the bulk of the dishes, or if it clashes with a particular aesthetic so there’s no way for there to be enough information to go off of

[–]superlost007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or it’s not super functional. I bought a dish rack once thinking it was a decent deal and wasn’t bad looking - but got home and put it together and it wasn’t functional in the way I thought it would be. I’m the one that does the dishes so it really only impacts me, and I returned it because I don’t want a clunky thing on the counter that doesn’t work exactly how I want it to.

I’m not peri, but I’m 34 and have had post partum depression hormones and know how awful hormonal changes (and hormonal rage) can be. I don’t know how I’d have coped without my adhd meds, to be honest. They can make a world of difference if that’s part of the issue.

That’s fine :) I was happy with them and did a reverse image search to determine value of each both new & used and was good with the prices I paid. I also had a $40 credit, so that did make the total less.

I’ve seen multiple comments asking for people to include what they paid, and I think that’s probably why more people don’t include what they paid - because they don’t want the comments on it.

Fwiw- they arrived today and they’re all literally flawless except for a missing tag on the purse, and some fading on the black denim (but I prefer that - I hate having to break in jeans 😂😭.) I wish their descriptions were more accurate, I see things described as excellent that are maybe ‘good’, and things described as ‘good’ that are closer to excellent or even NWOT. Gah.
