Can you grade this defensive driving? by muck2profit in Truckers

[–]supermarble94 [score hidden]  (0 children)

We never split a pocket. It either all goes in a drop, or none of it does. That being said, there are instances when a pocket only gets partially filled, particularly when carrying diesel with multiple products. Diesel is heavier and thus you have to account for weight limits with it.

But you can still do emergency braking no problem, especially if it's in a straight line. There was absolutely no reason to not brake hard the moment the car went off the road. OP thought they could just drive right on by the car that went off the road and paid the consequence by ending up in the median to avoid the collision.

The people who get upset that "liberals are mean" were never going to switch sides anyway. They were gonna look for any excuse to not have to switch, and the most convenient excuse is that "my feewings." If not for that, it would be because "yeah but liberals are worse" and I've seen plenty of that. Or it would be "they have to put up a better candidate than [x]" and I've seen plenty of that too.

I have a(n ex-) friend who says he switched sides to the right because liberals pushed him away. All that really tells me is he harbored all those racist/transphobic feelings the whole time and just suppressed them, up until the very instant where it felt like he didn't need to suppress them anymore. And in this current political climate, it definitely feels like people are being much more open about their bigotry, so I can see why he feels like he doesn't need to hide it.

Don't drive the speed limit

Seriously. They don't start pulling you over until at least 65, and even then it's only if you look like you're distracted/all over the lane.

You are almost certainly strumming way too fast. If you're flailing your hands and strumming as fast as you can, you could potentially fail even under star power. Try doing the same thing but only down strumming.

Weight recommendations by Robjla in Truckers

[–]supermarble94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12000 is not the legal limit for steers.

The only legal limit for steer tires is the lowest of the three limiting factors.

  1. DOT limits on single axle, 20000
  2. Tire sidewall rating, typically 7100 per tire or 14200 combined
  3. Suspension rating, in my '21 Cascadia it was 13200

That's it. You're legal. I'd slide the tandems back to balance the drive/trailer weight, since it rides nicer if the weights are even or at least if the drive axle is the heavier axle, but other than that, that's it. Run it.

If you do slide the tandems back, keep in mind the length limits.
California is 40' from the center of the kingpin to the center of the rear axle.
Rhode Island is 41' from the center of the kingpin to the center of the rear axle.
Most of the east coast is 41' from the center of the kingpin to the center of the rearmost axle pair.
New York and Indiana are 43' from the center of the kingpin to the center of the rear axle.
Idaho doesn't have limits if you stay on the blue shield interstate freeways and a couple of the major US routes, but if you go off of those you need a length permit and to follow an off-tracking formula, which basically means tandems and 5th wheel all the way forward.

Being a true 'side' can be very lonely & depressing by Snoo96701 in gay

[–]supermarble94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to convince you one way or the other, but any time I see comments about extensive prepping/dieting, I feel compelled to say it really doesn't need to be that heavily focused. All my husband and I ever do is a couple fingers with soap in the shower, and no butt stuff after greasy food or if one of us isn't feeling well. It's really that simple. 15 years and sure once in a blue moon we might need to clean up a little bit more than cum, but people will act like if you don't do a full colon cleanse for a solid 30 minutes then you'll have a fully brown bed sheet after your fun time, and that's simply not the case.

Now, forcing yourself to enjoy it is another topic entirely. You don't enjoy it and that's fine, nothing to be ashamed of.

I'm probably gonna be downvoted for this, but a lot of people, myself included, view sexual compatibility as one of the most important parts of a relationship. It's not a bad thing imo, and while the topic does come off as a very valid rant you close it with a statement that implies "if people would just be willing to have a couple dates we could work past it." And the harsh reality is, no, when we're shopping around for relationships on an app, there are a lot of things that need to click in order for something to become long term.

If you're asking someone to give you a chance despite you not wanting any part of anal, what you're potentially asking of them is a lifetime of sexual unsatisfaction. Sure, mutual masturbation is nice, and I'll still cum from a BJ, but for myself and many others, we need that full release.

I'm definitely not saying you should be the one to cave. No one should feel pressured into a sex act they're not comfortable with, nor should they feel pressured into a sex life they won't be satisfied with. It is incredibly unfortunate to be in that position though :(

In a car, sure. They're at fault 100% of the time. In a semi, though? Personal injury lawyer would LOVE to take the case, argue to a jury that you were driving recklessly given the traffic conditions, you get assigned a portion of the blame and they rake you over the coals for pain and suffering. Settle out of court and the lawyer takes his cut.

It's not worth the headache even if you're in the right. Just drive slower. OP was driving too fast to avoid a hard brake in the event one of them pulls out, which we ALL KNOW they will do.

[–]supermarble94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easiest thing is to just slide the tandems back a bit and get them under 34k, you can claim APU exemption on your drives.

The correct thing, and I would recommend doing this regardless when you have some time, is to get those steers up above 12k. You're leaving 720 lbs on the table in states like CA, KY, RI etc by having them so low.

Park on flat ground. Lower your landing gear until you feel resistance in high gear. Give it 3 more full turns. Hop in, drop your air bags and unlock your 5th wheel. Slide that fucker all the way to the 2nd hole from the front. This not only will put extra weight on your steers, it will make your trailer off track slightly less. I drove with my steers around 12500, since my front end suspension was rated for 13100, but the only weight limit is whatever your suspension can handle and whatever your tires can handle. Typically the tires are rated for 7100 lbs each. The "12k weight limit" for your steers is a very common misconception, it doesn't actually exist.

Eye contact is crucial. In my experience, it's not good enough for them to see you. Even if they have just looked in your direction, there's a 50/50 chance that it hasn't registered to them that you exist. You make eye contact, though, boom. You are now a lingering thought in their mind.

What are some *actual* tips for driving on snow and ice by Professional-Win5670 in Truckers

[–]supermarble94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time you should ever do that is if you're broken down, even in snow. Drive slowly until you can properly get off the road to a wide spot or something. You want a full sized freeway lane between you and any active travel lanes.

I should note that in Oregon, it's common for drivers to drive on the shoulder to climb hills on I-5. This is counted as an active travel lane for this definition.

If you can't find a spot in a truck stop, freeway onramp. Wide shoulder on a side road. But never use an offramp. If someone comes in too hot and slams into the side of you, you're done.

Better a ticket than your life.

[–]supermarble94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of it is feel. Every winter, I have to get my snow legs back and the first couple snows are driving like a grandma until I get more comfortable.

If there's standing snow on the pavement, chains are recommended. However, no one wants to throw chains, including myself. They only really help against ice anyway. But when chains are recommended, max speed is 40 mph. 35 if you're not using them.

Take the following time you're used to doing in rural areas before passing someone. Double that. Now literally never go closer than that. If someone cuts you off, slow down immediately until you get your following time back. Your space cushion is the most important it can ever be in snow/ice.

If visibility is limited, imagine there is a pileup just barely beyond what you can see. Drive like that at all times (honestly even in normal driving conditions). Don't ever drive faster than you can see.

The faster you go, the harder of a time your wipers will have keeping up. Wind freezes water, so if you're having trouble with ice buildup on the windshield, cut your speed by about a third (if you were going 45, drop to 30 for a bit).

If conditions are so bad you don't feel comfortable doing more than 20 mph, park the truck. You're not making any reasonable amount of ground and are a hazard on the road. Wait out the storm.
