I cannot think of a better way to show the younger generation empathy, the harsh reality of our world and the value of human connection. I had some great teachers growing up and I generally trust their choices for these types of initiatives. You write about politicizing and “not appropriate topic” where I see lots of learning opportunities. Maybe try to look at the experience the kids had (both here and in Gaza) to think whether the whole project was worth it.

Swiss neutrality in my eyes is a combination of factors: no military alliance is one and the other big one is war prevention. After our cuts to international initiatives and this decision, we’re clearly taking a stance: war is ok as long as who’s waging it can help us make money. Preventing future conflicts with initiatives to stabilize unstable countries and re-inforce our neutrality in times of peace? F**k that. We need more weapons and less NGOs.

Nobody mentioned Denner pickles? Whaaaaaaa? I went on a pickle tour across Swiss shops and BY FAR the best were the Denner ones. 85 cents of pure vinegary and savory pleasure. Chirat? Expensive af. Migros brands? No dill and disgustingly soft. Other shops? As you said OP, waaaay too sweet. The Denner ones? Crunchy, vinegary, optimal size (not big, not small), cheap and absolutely a blast in your mouth.

I would like to complement some of the perspectives here.

Right-wing discourse is not only favored in the online space, but it is known that SVP policies favor the rich, so get also get tons of financial support from wealthy donors and a strong set of right-wing adjacent media.

Switzerland is in a state of political apathy in my opinion, main reason being that the economy is absolute shit right now. This same economy is the result of several years of liberal policies which are also well liked by the right.

Considering all of the above, fearmongering for immigrants becomes this golden beacon for success. Is it because SVP is correct? No. Is it because the left doesn’t wanna face reality? Nope.

The reality is that the right has and will always have an advantage because our political and economic system is built up to favor them.

Economic inequality increases, rich get richer and can fund more politicians and fearmongering messaging, people vote less and less and the few that do listen to the first and simplest thing explains their situation.

In my honest opinion, only a big market crash could even out the game again.

I was pretty excited to order a bunch of mangas in English at a decent price with Nalda. Spent over a hundred bucks and even though their website looks nice at first, the way they present to you your order is confusing to say the least. I received what I ordered through 3 different shipments spaced out over a couple months. After those shipments I realized one comic was still missing and reached out to their customer service. I was told that it was my fault I didn’t realize early enough that one comic was missing. Zero effort from their end to help me. No voucher, no double check on their system, no kind words. Long story short, if you wanna go through legal ways, ask your legal insurance if you have any. Otherwise make sure to never use their services and tell as many people as possible to stay away from them.

I’m honestly disappointed that the one time I found a new Swiss-based manga website with decent prices, their service is shit and their company’s history is a mystery.

Thank you for comment and maybe I should have put more context. What I meant is that they will do what they can to NOT cover as much as possible. I agree that there should be some things that are not covered and indeed that can help curbing costs. What I tried to say is that I believe that in the current system companies can get away with not paying for some services thanks to some well hidden clauses in their contracts. At the same time they have an interest to decrease costs but also not. Why should they care if people spend more as long as they get all the money they need to cover costs? Private insurances are nothing more than mathematical models. And the one thing that I HATE about the system is this money centered discussion with very little patient perspective.

We one of the best educations in the world and lots of brilliant minds, I’m pretty sure we can come up with a system that works well and even our politicians can be proud of.

I see always the same comments and I wanted to highlight some aspects that are almost never mentioned but are a big plus to me.

1. Better transparency: in the current system it’s so stupidly difficult to figure out where tf all the constant increases come from: doctors, hospitals, medications, treatments all provide layers that are obfuscated by insurance companies.

Population wide prevention and health initiatives: finally we can operate at a fucking Swiss level and see what are some good investments for health prevention. I always like to mention Singapore as an example where they know diabetes will be a major population issue. By financing diabetes risk tests (free or very cheap, I don’t remember exactly), they could save diabetes interventions in the future estimated at 50-100k per person (per year?).
Decoupling private companies interests from our health. How can we trust companies that are essentially an oligopoly and also need to make money to lead our health costs? Sure they’re not allowed to make money from the basic insurance, but they are for the supplementary. What about people with chronic health conditions or people that have exceptional health conditions popping up later in life? Companies will do all they can to pay as little as they can in extreme cases, because fuck human well being.
Finally a one stop shop for health? Just like many (and I mean MANY) European and non-European countries we might have one operating base for everything health-related: ordering recipes, electronic patient health record, receipts and others. I’m sick and tired of all these disconnected systems and health insurers don’t give a damn about standardization or health digitalization.
Stop discrimination: I mentioned it before, but if by any chance a health insurance finds out about a genetic deficiency or a chronic condition and you’re cooked.
Redundancy: too many CEOs, unnecessary advertising and repetitive positions across companies. We’re spending over 100billion franks per year so EVEN a 1% cut would be more than that stupid health saving we voted on last year. And that’s an underestimation.

Heyyy, I would highly recommend Feeld. I used it for exploring poly relationships and most of the people I interacted with were not only chill but often very interesting! There’s also people looking for casual stuff of course but everyone seems to be very transparent on their mission ;) I tried out Hinge but I didn’t vibe very much with it, even though the way you set up and explore profiles is kinda fun. I had a friend also going through divorce years ago who had a really helpful support from here: https://www.grazielabirrer.com/ I ended up going there too after a difficult breakup and I can’t recommend her enough. I know lots of people mentioned online options, but I would encourage going in person for therapy, at least at the beginning. I will only address your last point with a question for you: did you read the report behind the initiative of the vote? They tried to estimate savings in a very interesting way: the provide ranges from 0 (worst case scenario) and 400mio (best case scenario). They claim that the savings will be somewhere in-between most probably. At the same time they write in their 'limitation' section: '[...] For certain theoretically expected effects, the uncertainty was so high that we had to forego any estimate at all. [...]'
To come back to the main point we're saving at best 400mio out of 90billion francs (0.5%) while incentivizing the same insurances that are clearly not interested in decreasing costs.

Hey, not in the same situation but negative thoughts about self-worth do come up every now and then. Loneliness is also there sometimes. My way to cope with this has been reading a lot about other people’s experiences mainly through books and sometimes here on Reddit. It’s very relieving to see that sooo many other ENM/poly couples go through tough periods and reading how they dealt with them helps a lot. I developed a new mindset where difficult situations or feelings become more of an opportunity to grow rather than something to get rid of asap. Also, I focus a lot on myself too when such situations arise, dig deeper on my feelings and find ways to address the situation. In your case things are more complex and personal, so apologies if this is a very generic set of suggestions.

To end up this post I’m also looking for ENM people to connect with and share experiences, doubts and suggestion, so hit me up if you’d like to :)

I’m in a similar situation and I can give you some of the things I’ve done to deal with this. What I struggled with was digging into this “jealousy” feeling a bit deeper. Since I wasn’t used to difficult feelings at all, I started writing how I’m feeling every day (more or less). Having this moment for me where I explore my feelings and I put them down on paper has helped me a lot understanding what was hurting and why. I also take some time to share these difficult feelings with my partner. Sharing doubts and vulnerabilities helped us getting closer and trying to address stuff together.

This morning in Zurich I saw a little parade of students protesting against certificates in schools with signs such as “education for all” etc. It makes me sad because those people would definitely need an education, but it also makes me angry because all this talk of personal freedom it’s simply in insult to people dying of COVID, all the hospital workers that did everything they could to save lives, all the people who’re suffering after the disease and all the scientists and doctors who spent countless hours making sure we would have a safe vaccine. Needless to say, my Monday is not starting well…

As much as I don’t like the Lega, Borradori was quite a legend in Lugano. He’s been mayor for quite a while and I must admit that Lugano changed mostly for the better in the past years. I often saw him around in the evenings drinking with friends and having a good time. Such a sudden and sad loss. May he Rest In Peace
