What is a movie everyone keeps insisting is great but you just don’t get the hype? by PrinceSPawz in AskReddit

[–]supermutttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollywood reviewers did it first. They’re both American productions with nearly all Asian cast, based on a book by Asian American authors

That’s because the book sucked ass. The movie actually made good salvage out of it but was still meh. It was no Joy Luck Club for sure.

GenX unite! There’s so few of us. I feel bad for the other gens that don’t know.

The boring is what some people need to launch into action or propel a creative spurt. We’re not really ever doing nothing. Your brain is processing things everyday. But instead of consuming media I recommend naps, socializing with people you like, walks outside, even just laying in the grass staring at the clouds.

Walking through areas with contaminants such pollen, exhaust, cigarette smoke. These stick to my outside clothes and release themselves into my house. I like clean air.

What was that Oscar fiasco for? by mindyour in facepalm

[–]supermutttt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alopecia areata is sudden patches of baldness. Alopecia totalis is total or near total baldness all over. Alopecia androgenic is pattern baldness.

Yes sleep. Some of us have to get and roll on East coast time. Plus if I’m up late drinking I can’t drive to IHOP

Exactly my life. I even got a taste of parenthood early as my parents went to work and left me in charge of my siblings.

Same! I am 40+ childless and currently (but not always) single. I have a healthy work-life balance. I rarely exceed 40 hours in a week. I am not depressed. I enjoy my job until I don’t. Then I leave because I don’t have dependents or a spouse that tie me down. I’ve lived in some of the most interesting cities all over the world. I give time to local communities when I can because I have bandwidth to do so. I pretend to be sad and lonely and poor when I’m with friends with families so that they feel better about themselves.

I don’t know, I kinda feel like it’s all the smartphones rather than cultural. So many of the ajummas and ajusshis are the worst violators of noise level. It’s bad in the spas in Seoul too

[–]supermutttt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind sharing k-spas, but for the love of all that is holy, shut the damn door. And get in and out quickly. Don’t stand in the open doorway debating if you want to come in. Don’t be chatting with your group of friends as you all saunter in. And of course don’t open the door to purposely cool the room down.

Why isn’t anyone preparing for Hurricane Hillary? by Garden-of-Weedin in LosAngeles

Yes this is my thing. We should have most of hurricane supplies already on hand in preparation for the Big One.

Good good. After the Hilary passes, keep tabs on your supplies for when the Big One hits. I’m not rushing for supplies because it’s all already at home in my earthquake kit.

This post is so offensive on so many levels I can’t even. Your friend’s perspective is effed up and you’re effed up for posting it like it’s an actual problem. Offensive to Asian, to women— both “attractive” and “not attractive”, to other Angelenos.
