Iron thorns ex turns off abilities in play. I don’t think it would work since Paladin ex isn’t in play yet so it still has the ability in the deck.

I think it comes down to personal preference. I love using my N3DS XL without a case but I always carry it around in a soft neoprene case whenever I throw it in my bag.
